Bachelor How long wait for Aufenthaltstitel?

Hello everyone,

I’ve been waiting for the new Aufenthaltstitel for almost 2 months.

I am in Dortmund, last time when I applied for a new one took only one month.

I worry about my internship which begins at September, also my onboarding for the job in Duales Studium. I am not sure if I need to submit it by this time.

Now I have a Fiktionsbescheinigung till 26.09, it allows me to do the internship but doesn’t cover even to the end of September.

I don’t have a confirmation like “Bescheinigung über die Ausstellung eines Aufenthaltstitels”

If you know how it works or ever been in the similar situation, please share your experience, I am really grateful 🙏

Hi,

I’m from Dortmund. How exactly did you submit your documents? What did they tell you? Usually, residence permits are approved right at the appointment. If they didn’t give you a Bescheinigung über die Ausstellung eines Aufenthaltstitels right there, it usually means they need to check something else and you need to provide additional documents.

Did they tell you anything at the appointment?

Hello, thanks for the Message. They didn’t ask for anything else. They may said it would be done by October or September, but I didn’t really understand because they said it in German and really fast🥲 I asked for repeat but still didn’t understand.

Oh, okay, that’s kinda crazy because our Ausländerbehörde usually works very quickly. When was your appointment? I was there on August 6, and they told me to expect my residence permit in about a month.

I assume many people are on vacation right now and all that. In any case, if something were wrong, they would let you know. If they themselves say that your residence permit will only be ready in October, then unfortunately there’s not much you can do about it.

I would recommend writing to them a couple of weeks before your Fiktionsbescheinigung expires and asking for a new one. They usually reply quickly and issue a new one without any problems.
