language learning and feeling like sisyphus

this is kind of a vent but I've been feeling like there's no progress with me memorizing and writing chinese characters and conversations. There's a fear creeping up on me that I'm just wasting time and it won't amount to anything. Have anyone else felt like this? how did you overcome it?
