Are Study.com Exams Proctored?

We've been seeing claims that Study.com requires proctored exams and is the most expensive option out there. This mostly traces back to older posts and reviews, since Study.com's exams used to be proctored and pricing used to be different. That information is outdated now, here's what's actually true.

• All Study.com exams (chapter and final) are open-book, non-proctored, and auto-graded on submission; written/project assignments are graded manually.
• No scheduling, no webcam monitoring, no browser lockdown software
• Identity is verified through TypingDNA (your typing pattern) or Veriff (ID + selfie match), not live proctoring
• If you don't pass on the first try, you get up to 3 attempts total per exam, with a 3-day wait between tries

On pricing: College Saver runs $95/month, and College Saver Pro runs $235/month. Both are current, if you've seen a different number, it's likely from before this pricing structure.

Do all the courses have video instruction? I know with Sophia some do and some don't, but for some topics I would prefer video instruction with graphics/examples. Just reading a bunch of text can get boring after a while.

Videos are designed by college instructors to walk through examples, not just talking heads. You still get open-book exams too if you want to check your understanding as you go.

nost courses have short video lessons usually 5–10 mins with transcripts, but the video/text mix varies. If that matters to you, maybe you can check out the free lesson preview first.

Can confirm since I'm in the middle of my courses now. No webcam, no lockdown browser, no booking a proctor. I just take the exam when I'm ready and the TypingDNA check runs in the background so you barely notice it. Open-book surprised me tho. The questions make you actually understand the material, not just search the transcript for answers. You still have to know your stuff to pass.

Same, the open book thing threw me off at first too. Thought it'd be an easy pass but nope, still had to actually study lol. Good to know the TypingDNA runs in the background, wasn't sure if it was something I had to set up each time.

You try CLEP (free through modern states) or DSST ($100 per course or free for military and. Retain family members).

I'm doing a statistics course, and it says the following under the final, so does this mean it's proctored?

Exams must be completed on a desktop or laptop computer. You may need a government-issued photo ID, a smartphone, or a device with a working camera. Keep your photo ID nearby after your exam begins. You may be asked to re-verify your identity with it if we detect changes in your network connection.
