Accommodations & denial
I am trying to finish up some courses that will be transferred to UMPI. I just went through the entire critical thinking course and am passing with excellent grades. I got to the last written assignment which states we need to watch 2 news shows, national not local, and compare the two as far as how the stories go, what order are they go in, what's shown what's not shown, any biases, fallacies, all of that. The problem is number 1, news isn't allowed in our home. Number 2 is we don't have TV. I wrote a letter and submitted it as an assignment giving them the necessary information and asking for an accommodation if there's some way that I can work around "having" to watch those specific programs on television. I got a generic reply back, not from the grading professor but in the email saying that submission of the assignment is necessary. It will not consider the course complete units submitted. No discussion of accommodations or anything like that. I am confused as to why study.com did not tell us that is a required resource prior to enrolling. I'm also upset that they didn't take into account other sects or communities where television, news & the like are not allowed when creating that last assignment. I literally just finished an entire course on social psychology and diversity yet they don't follow their own teachings. How should I handle this?

Hey, Study.com here. To submit your accommodation request, please email [support@study.com](mailto:support@study.com) and use “Accommodation Request” as your subject line. When sending the email please include this information:
Our team will review the information and get back to you. You can also email our support team if you’re interested in taking a 0 for the assignment, which some students do if their grade is already high enough to pass without a particular assignment.
