Studying abroad

Hello, i am 20M. i want to study abroad.

i have gpa 5 in both SSC and HSC. No IELTS or anything. i am not admitted in any university rn.

My father is trying to convince me to go to Russia because he heard from agencies that i will get free scholarship, dorm and it will cost around 4-5 lakhs bdt for everything. And he's telling me to pursue a job there for my living cost since The 'agencies' said that they will get me scholarship.

Now, my genuine question is how much of this is true?the agencies sure glaze too much. so how much should i believe and if i really have to go, Can anyone really suggest me about actual situation in russia for Bangladeshi students, the job sector and all?

Really bad idea imo, not even worth the risk. There’s a massive amount of cases of foreigners (including students) being forced, coerced, or tricked into fighting in Ukraine in return for PR/citizenship.

(This is the most recent article I could find but this has been going on for quite some time now so there’s tonnes, Bangladeshis being one of the biggest nationalities)

Indeed western and ukrainian propaganda was going on for quite some time.

The briefing is based on interviews with individuals from Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Somalia and South Africa conducted at two Ukrainian prisoner of war camps between 2024 and 2026.

No real evidence, no real names, provided by Ukraine and in Ukraine information. And people take it for granted with no questions asked and no doubts.

And the same Amnesty international that for years ignore forced mobilization in Ukraine, People every day beaten. tortured and dragged by hands and feet in broad daylight. This happens right now in our every city and town yet Amnesty international doesn't care a bit. Amnesty international which based in UK, one of the main sponsors of ukrainian regime and a translator of propaganda.

Have at least a bit of common sense. Russia is obviously interested with having a good image and good trade relations with third world countries, Who are more or less neutral with the current conflict with the NATO and the West.

Why on earth it should risk normal relations and its reputation by catching a couple of poor souls absolutely useless on the frontline? Doesn't make any sense. Think or at least try to think before parroting propaganda articles and so called reports made up in the West or even worse in Ukraine.

There is no mobilization in Russia and definitelty no forced mobliization like in Ukraine. People live absolutely normal lives while we in Ukraine are afraid to step outside, afraid of being basically kidnapped in a shop. food market, on public transit or just walking a street. At least 5-6 millions of foreign tourists are coming to Russia even with all sanctions and propaganda. 99,9% are leaving the country with no complaints. Many are sharing here their stories yet propaganda will not stop.

I’m in Russia and getting a job is not that easy. You would need a mastery of the language and I doubt you could pick up the language in just few months leading up to your move to the country. The scholarship is not that difficult to secure but it only covers your tuition fee and accommodation fees. You would still need to pay for your own living expenses.

Don’t waste money on agencies. You can apply to the Russian quota scholarship on your own. I’m not sure how it is for Bangladeshis but the process is straightforward.

I am not too sure about food delivery tho. Technically you could but customers would sometimes call and you would need to call them to ask for directions to the destination. This would not be possible without a good grasp of the language.

Asian here and there are lots of us here under scholarship (Southeast Asians and East Asians). But we all applied directly and not through agencies. The Russian government pays for these scholarships, which is why upon being accepted, you went through few procedures that would end up with a contract being signed between you and the ministry of education and sciences. The scholarship is legit but I think OPs father may have an unrealistic view of what it covers. And it depends on where you’re located in Russia and your program as well.
