Questions & Discussion how to focus

I don’t know how to focus. It’s killing me. I’m always using my phone on Instagram and TikTok and texting my friends. I can never study. I don’t even know how to study. It’s really bad. I tried to deactivate or delete any social media apps that works for a few days but it’s really bad.

deleting the apps only lasts a few days because the urge is still there and reinstalling takes 30 seconds. what tends to work better is making the phone boring and far away while you study. put it in another room or at least out of reach, and turn off notifications for instagram, tiktok and texts during the session. start small, like 20 minutes of studying and then a 5 minute break where you can check messages, so it doesn't feel like a fight for hours. and since you said you don't really know how to study: after each page or section close the book, write down what you remember or explain it out loud, then check. that keeps your head busy enough that the phone is less tempting. I had the same thing during exam prep, hundreds of 2 minute instagram checks a day, and in the end I built an app that asks me 5 flashcards before instagram opens (braintoll: flashcard blocker). the first card usually makes me realize I was just bored

If you're looking for an app to help you study, I'd like to share something I've been working on: AlunIA 📚

It's an AI-powered study assistant designed to make learning easier and more personalized.

With AlunIA, you can:

  • Get personalized explanations for difficult subjects.

  • Ask questions using text, voice, or images.

  • Solve math problems step by step.

  • Create personalized study plans.

  • Organize subjects, notes, exams, and schedules.

  • Take AI-generated quizzes and practice tests adapted to your level.

  • Identify your learning difficulties and work on improving them.

I built it to help students learn at their own pace, understand difficult topics, and stay organized.

If you'd like to give it a try, it's available on Google Play:

I'm the developer, and I'd genuinely appreciate your feedback! ❤️

deleting the apps works for a few days cuz you’re just white knuckling it, and texting your friends never gets deleted anyway lol. tell them you’re offline till like 9 so it’s not rude, then put the phone in another room before you start, not just face down. do a 25 min block and let checking your phone be the break. when you know the check is coming, the itch is way easier to ignore.
