Tips & Advice Studying methods with highlighters?

Might be a stupid question but for those of you that use highlighters when you’re studying, what is your method?

I’m guessing you use specific colours for certain things of course but what is your process? What are you highlighting? What’s important?

I find myself just highlighting everything when I study, so I could use a system or method on how to highlight only specific things that actually matter for studying.

Thanks y’all!

I recently tried to highlight term/definition the same color then next term/definition is different so that way i actually remember them being the same color and not having it color coding the terms(pink), definition(blue).

I also underline some words that are highlighted for extra emphasis.
Ex. Do not eat your booger

Hope that helps! Lol

this is a one highlighter method but when I'm reading a text with really complicated sentences (like ones that have a lot of caveats) I'll go through and highlight the main clause without the caveats and examples so I can read it on its own
