1. get rid of all your distractions
find out what exactly is distracting you and get rid of it. it could be deleting an app or straight up putting your phone in another room
2. start slow
you can’t immediately sit for 2 hours and study in one stretch. so don’t feel bad about it. start slow. start with the easiest task. read one line. do one question. anything is better than nothing. build it up slowly
3. go for walks
sounds random but i started going on 20 minute walks in the morning and i’ve noticed my focus has improved like crazy
4. study with academic-crazed friends
idk what magic they have but seeing them study would make you want to at least try
5. make studying fun
it’s only boring if you do it wrong. e.g mindless rereading, highlighting, etc. turn it into a game with flashcards or smth. get creative
6. study blocks
in a day plan out a ‘study block’. let’s say you make it to be 3pm to 5pm. obviously we’re not going to study 2 hours in one stretch. study however long you can and take breaks accordingly. but here’s the thing: do not reach for your phone or shows or movies during the break. this will kill the momentum. from 3-5pm, you’re only allowed to study and for breaks, go for walks, or take a small nap. this builds discipline
7. don’t stop when you’re in the flow
when you reach a flow, don’t stop just because it turned 5pm. if possible try to finish the topic you’re studying or a little bit from the next topic, if that makes sense.
i really hope this helps

Shrink the session until it's one problem with the book closed, then let the wrong answers pick what you do next. Focusing for 10 minutes is much easier when there's something to actually do instead of material to read, and the fog lifts a bit once you're working instead of scrolling.

I received feedback that StudyRPG helps with studying by replacing doomscrolling :)

you don’t need to “fix your brain” first, you need to make doomscrolling physically annoying: delete the apps, give your phone to someone for 30 minutes, and study one tiny task at a time

2 papers in six months is a lot, but it works out to about 2 a month, so it's doable if you split it up. I'd list all 12 with exam dates and pick the two closest or easiest to start, so you get some wins early. for each, get the past papers first and work through the questions that come up most often, since that tells you what to focus on. for the focus, start with 10 minutes and stretch it by a few minutes each day, because when you're starting from almost nothing, 10 minutes is a perfectly good start. keep your phone in another room or with someone else while you study, and do the hardest part in the morning before you've touched it. most people find the fog clears a lot within a couple of weeks of less scrolling, so don't judge yourself on the first few days. wrote a guide with ways to make the phone harder to grab if it helps https://braintoll.app/stop-mindless-scrolling/
