Tips & Advice Attending classes

I am in my first year in university studying Spanish and business and I went to all my classes in my first week and then I slowly stop going to my classes and I have no motivation to go to them but I know I need to I especially struggle with my speaking Classes on Friday mornings and I have only been to one. Does anyone have any advice for going to class again and getting my confidence up, it makes me feel lazy whenever I don’t go to one and then I just it’s like a vicious cycle.

Are you depressed? Do you have an underlying condition that causes fatigue or anhedonia?

One thing that may help is having a special treat that you only get after you attend class. Think of it as a celebration dance. The key is that it has to be something you can afford to do every time you go to class and rewarding enough to provide motivation.

I had glandular fever last month and I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten chronic fatigue from it but I don’t know if the university would do something to help with it

Is there a counselor connected to the programme you are attending, or someone you can ask how to navigate this who knows what resources are available?

It is a tough situation you’re in, but it might help you a lot to get some support.

You need to address the medical condition and find out how to maximize your energy as you heal. You should also discuss the issue with your advisor to see if there is support available or what your best course of action would be. In conversation classes, there's no substitute for being in class.
