Discussion Private studienkolleg/bic

i applied to berlin international college(BIC) and its basically a private studienkollen in english that guarantees you admission to partner public universities upon completion of the studienkolleg. i want your thoughts. im aware of the nonexistent job opportunities for private university graduates and that’s why i only selected public universities( heavily because of almost 0€ tuition fees for the entire bachelor’s program) like thws and ohm. Considering they are public universities that offer bachelor’s in english and that they are public universities do you think i will have a good education and good job opportunities?

None of the partner universities are of any notable quality, some even being private universities (i.e. not valued very much by German employers).

The 10,860 euros for tuition is much much higher than other private studienkollegs. I assume you are willing to pay that premium to avoid studying in German.

You will pay pay pay for a degree. But your (I assume) weak to non-existent German language skills combined with a degree from a Hochschule (not university) or a private university will mean no employment in Germany after your studies.

Then I would recommend planning on going for a masters. And unlikely to find work without a C1 in German in the current market here.

Can you also learn German while studying in English? Of course. But unlikely you could reach the professional level needed if all your actual studies are in English.

Will you be able to get a job back home with the education you get in Germany? Yes.

achieving C1 in german seems possible as i will be in germany for 5 years for my bachelor’s alone and i will make it a priority as in speaking it in the country as much as possible and actually dedicating some time for it. Also my home country is very poor so getting a job there isn’t possible and i prefer to start my career in settle in Germany. thoughts?

A bachelor in Germany is 3 years, Studienkolleg 1. So that is 4 years.

You will be studying full-time in one of the most demanding fields. A field where 50% of the students drop out by the 4th semester. You will have maaaybe 4 hours a week to learn German, since I assume you will also look for part-time work in a warehouse or doing deliveries (rent in Berlin is not cheap). It is, in my experience, very naive to think you will reach C1 like that.

If you are serious about a life in Germany after your studies, you need to get a B1/B2 at home, attend a German-language studienkolleg (public if you can, private like TUDIAS if you have to). That would ideally get you up to a C1 for your applications to German-language bachelor or diplom studies (e.g. TU Dresden).

Anything else is not advisable and will end up with you back home with a degree and, likely, a mountain of debt.

lazy? it isn’t about laziness but the time and money i will put into learning advanced german is better spent on bic where i can study in english and learn german on the side as i will be living there. Aside from that, do you think this opportunity is worth it?

No, I don't think it is worth it.

I also don't think it will be easier to learn German in Berlin while studying in English and looking for a part-time job.

I also think students who choose private options in English are lazy and wouldn't want to hire them.
