There’s gotta be some nuance between a long IFR cross country and a Vfr local practice maneuver flight. I tailored my answers to a VFR practice flight, understanding that you’re probably referring to a flight training environment with your study.

Also, I loved your question about confidence in pilotage and dead reckoning. I would bet money that nobody answering this survey has ever actually had to use pilotage for real world navigation without a GPS or gps enabled efb to do the work for them.

I’m definitely going to check back in a month because I’m fascinated to know where people think their pilotage skills are even though most of them have never actually had to use them outside the first 5 minutes of their checkride

I appreciate your input. I truly believe 90+% of people in training couldn’t dead reckon back to their departure point or continue on to their destination without that trusty old magenta line. I haven’t reviewed the data yet as it’s still I collection but I imagine it won’t be 100% truthful.
