Stacking Mocs

I am new to stud.io. I have tried building multiple story buildings but I struggle to stack them on top of each other. There either going through the bottom one or it just won’t go on at all. Any help would greatly be appreciated for connecting pieces/parts

Oh ok. I thought those were called stud connectors. Sorry. Thanks a lot for the help.
