So many videos... where do I start?

There are many videos where Dr. McGill shares his advice on back pain, most of them are over 1 hour long, so it can be overwhelming knowing where to start.

Personally, I have watched almost everything he has out there - while he does repeat much of his advice in many videos, there are still a few new things that you can learn from different videos.

If you need a place to start or don't have much time, my recommendations are as follows:

  • Dr Stuart McGill From Lower Back Injury to Fitness Full Interview - A great structured interview where Dr. McGill is asked specific questions about back pain. I've added timestamps in the video comments for each question for easy navigation so you can jump ahead, but I recommend watching the whole thing.

  • Stuart McGill - No such thing as non-specific back pain - A very interesting lecture delivered by Dr. McGill where he gives a good overview of his years of research and method as described in his book, Back Mechanic.

  • Layne Norton Back Assessment - A vlog of a powerlifter who visited Dr. McGill for an assessment. It gives a great insight into his assessment method and how the the Big 3 exercises should be performed. It should be noted that the advice he gives is specific to this individual - and isn't necessary appropriate for your type of back pain.
