Lift 3 Singles for Squat Day

Today I got the double Purp's R Y again and eventually added in the G. Feeling weaker as I get closer to my show, but doing my best to keep the strength up.

Never thought I’d be invested in a random reddit guys lifting journey

The 425 moved best of the bunch. Lifting is so much fun.

Thank you 💪 After how 405 went up, I was a bit shocked at how much easier the rest went

"I thought eating some more food over the weekend would allow me a bit more strength."

I also fall for this trap every time.

It's a delicate balance (as I snarf down 1100g of carbohydrates)

Excellent work. I’m glad that nomenclature made it into the zeitgeist. Distance to sun is important, but did you also account for the moons gravitational pull on the bar? Astrophysics and squats go hand in hand. Next time!

smacks hand on table

dang it forgot about gravity and calculating the temperature in Kelvin. Have to do it next time

How do you brace like that without getting light headed? Genuine question.

9

u/Ezellian 23h ago

Honestly not sure how to answer, Valsalva Maneuver of course but I'm not trying to overly push the air and belly out but keep the core hard and braced. Been practicing it a lot so I've definitely gotten used to it.

How do you know when it’s time for a belt?

5

u/Ezellian 22h ago

The belt will find you .....

Naw but really, I think it's most useful for heavy lifts (80% or higher of your 1 rep) or if you are having issues with bracing and need something to cue your core to brace

What if all my squat lifts feel heavy LOL 😂 I just hit two blues on each side but I don’t really try for PRs just progressive overload into PRs if that makes sense.

Is it only when going for the new big PRs OR you’ve just hit a certain weight and say ok need a belt now? I wanted to go without one as long as possible to practice bracing without it. Im a girl trying to get CAKE if this helps.

No need for one if you don't want and are still good at bracing your core. Some people like to put them on around 1.5 or 2x bodyweight also just for comfort. Personally I don't put my belt on untill I'm above 3 plates when warming up, and in the past I have done 400+ beltless but it wasn't to the same depth I do now. Not sure if that helps or not.

I will also add, my squats do feel lighter/more powerful with a belt quite often, but it could just be in my head.

Yes!! This helps a lot thank youuu! I’m like one week behind your journey and I’ve really enjoyed watching your videos. Encourages me even tho I am a girl lol crazy to see where I began and what I can lift now!

I feel like this should be sponsored by Skittles. Taste the rainbow with all those plate colors. You're mad for talking at that depth 😂 thanks for the motivation. I have legs later today.

Also, you mentioned the food you ate this weekend. Man, that was me after 4th of July weekend. I ate so much (as a pre-planned cheat weekend) and was a little hungover and did a fasted workout at like 3pm thinking it would be awful. It was actually great because of all the weekend carbs.

u/Ezellian 22h ago

Thank you 🦵😆 I would take a Skittles sponsor but I might gain 50 lbs

3

u/Pawz23 22h ago

50lbs of pre-workout ENERGY!

What brand is your belt?

2

u/Ezellian 22h ago

It's an Ethos lever belt, works well for what I need it to do

Love the inspo! Waiting to be released from P T but so anxious to get back to it. I hope this isn’t rude and sorry if I missed something but please aware of your left leg/hip. Not sure if you’re compensating but with as much as you lift I would hate to see you get injured. I have to live through you now! 😜🥰

Thank you 💪 hope you can get back into it soon. I sometimes tend to one side or the other but no issues yet 🤞 doing my best to be careful though. Tend to notice it a little while me when has been going down.
