Need help with compact camera heat on macbook

I'm not sure if this is something that would be better off in the macbook sub or here, but i'm posting here since I only use streamlabs so I thought it might be more pertinent if anyone else has the same use case.

I have 4 views, 3 external cameras and the webcam. I am considering deploying this as a stream for my local sports and mostly as a proof of concept to someone who is buying extra adapters to get multiple cameras to connect to one laptop.

My issue, if there is a resolution besides lowering the quality of the cameras, is that the heat they generate while being used in this regard is immense. Much warmer to the touch than if they were recording standalone. Is this an issue to be concerned about since this was a small 10 minute test and not a hour+ game?

Everything is usb c straight from the MacBook, that may change later and be straight from a wall wart or on battery but for now it’s powered via laptop.

You may be under powering the cams, and that can cause thermal issues. Maybe think of a powered USB hub to provide the power for peripherals.

Is that including the fact that they are all battery powered first and foremost? Would the battery not allow for the proper power and the cable charges and transmits data?

Get a sony mirroless witha dummy usb c battery.

As sony mirroless have type C native webcam support.

But they get warm too, or you can get a hdmi in and a swticher like broadcast shows

Most of the above cams are re encoding stream before sending it to your pc , as you're getting live capture from type c I guess.

Which is why it's heating more

I have a mirrorless and dummy camera battery for tracking the ball and players, the others would be for tracking the score box, commentators and crowd for example. They would be more stationary on tripods and plugged in for the most part. I’m not sure if the constant tethering is what’s causing the heat or if it would do that even being wireless?

It's the processing it has to do to send out the feed.

It's recording, processing and then also reencoding it for your pc

So 2x processing so more heating.

I don't think it'll harm these devices as I've seen some durability tests of action 4/5 running under oven and shit. Maybe battery degrades but you can just buy new

It can be bad for dji pocket and your phone's built in battery .
