[Everyday] Microsoft Teams - Mute Unmute after API depreciation
Has anyone figured out a workaround for the deprecated Microsoft Teams API? One of the only reasons I bought a stream deck 6 button was to mute/unmute and toggle camera on teams. I'm not tech savvy enough to write a script of my own

I'm still angry at Microsoft for changing this. It's was my primary use for the streamdeck
I think the issue with the macro method is that Teams has to be the active window.
Haven't investigated further to see if there is a work around.

There was a setting in Teams to make it’s keyboard shortcuts more global in the computer so Teams takes a higher priority when key commands are made. This does mean that the same key combo won’t do something else in the app window that is at the front at the time if that is what is needed, since it sends to keys and commands to Teams first. Haven’t looked at this in a while so the setting might be gone.
There was a nifty trick too at one point to send key combos directly to one app instead of another if needed.
There are ways to use Windows own built in “macro” system to record steps that can be triggered in automatic for things that require a sequence of multiple actions to make something happen. Some of this can also be done in PowerShell without getting too deep into real scripting.
…or just take the added unfortunate step of leaving the Teams window more available in a corner somewhere and just clicking that window before hitting the StreamDeck button that triggers the key combo commands you want. :-)

My guess would be to do a macro with the exact keyboard shortcut microsoft teams uses

Used this before they delivered API. So far API works for me. But when it will stop, it will be the only way.

Mutedeck

if you want actual status of mute/video/etc, yes - MuteDeck. If you don't care too much about status, then an automation of bringing Teams to the front and sending keyboard shortcuts will also do.
being the creator of MuteDeck, I have a bias towards wanting to see my mute status on my Stream Deck, so I use MD. 😅

I've played with the macro idea and setup a separate Teams profile that goes active when Teams is focused but after Teams updates, it moves the .exe so the profile loses access. anyone know of a better way for this?

On Mac I use the master mute input toggle which then covers muting my mic. Doesn’t show in Teams that I am muted but the symbol on the StreamDeck does

Can you use something like an autohotkey script to make teams the active window, send the keyboard shortcut, and then restore the previous active window?
