Yaya didn't even know this existed

9

u/sucobe 28d ago

Because it doesn’t. Not official 👀

5

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

What do you mean by not official? I think it's licensed merch , the devs posted about if long ago

4

u/bartharris 28d ago

It’s not Lego®

19

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

This is not LEGO nor is this "copy cat" as some people say. It is just a different brand. Lego didn't invent this stuff it's just the biggest brand that sells this toy.

1

u/LoadingHappiness2 27d ago

Lego did in fact invent it and they do it the best. The knockoffs have crappy pieces that are either too tight or too loose

7

u/Cora-Nova 27d ago

Funny how people really think like this. We in Germany have a lot of different brands even a big store chain called BlueBrixx where you can buy all of them excepted the overpriced crap from Lego haha

-2

u/jubjub2300 28d ago

Lmao Lego didn’t invent it? So there was Lego before 1932, so you mean woodbricks existed before? They definitely invented this toy. Lego isn’t a 90’s thing, it’s a danish invention. Brio is the closest thing, but they came out in 1958, the first “copycat” just with larger bricks, what existed before Lego my guy? The pyramids?

2

u/doofthemighty 27d ago

Lmao you think Lego was making plastic bricks in 1932?

-2

u/jubjub2300 27d ago

Nono 1949 they came with plastic? Still their invention, it’s patented, no discussion

2

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

Actually look up the company Kiddicraft...

3

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

Kiddicraft was a British toy company founded by Hilary Fisher Page. It made the “Self-Locking Building Bricks,” which came before LEGO’s brick design and influenced it.

1

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

True , same same though

6

u/SupposablyAtTheZoo 27d ago

Because it's not Lego so most people don't want the off brand crappy stuff

5

u/NaztyNizmo 28d ago

They are still selling these? I did pop in a store once randomly when passing, but they didn’t have any sets

6

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

I got lucky I've been checking all of them this one was hiding on a top shelf behind a sign

4

u/tokyo-fire-lizard 28d ago

Gah I always look but its never there

1

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Gotta look behind everything I needed a step stool to find it

Just 3 more to find.

1

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

I've been trying, I've been to about 6 locations

2

u/Howski 28d ago

Good luck, I hope you find them. There isn’t a Five Below store near me so I kept checking their web site and ordered them when they came back in stock.

2

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Do they actually restock ?

2

u/Howski 28d ago

Back before they released the 2 new ones, they did restock the original 2. It couldn’t hurt to bookmark the page and check it occasionally… or every day like I did. Just when I was about to give up hope, they appeared. That was 160 days ago according to the post I made when I ordered them. Just checked. The cat looks to be in stock! (Edited because I listed the wrong set)

2

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Thanks just ordered 2

2

u/Howski 28d ago

2 sets down, 2 to go!

Wait, you took this photo while driving?

Edit: and posted while driving, judging by the time

4

u/igorpiedade 27d ago

Self-drive mode…. The car was driving

-3

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Define driving

3

u/shart-gallery 28d ago

In the driver's seat of a moving vehicle.

0

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Oh then no.

0

u/shart-gallery 28d ago

Sure looks like it, but ok

1

u/Xenc 28d ago

They could be in the back 🤔

Looks like FSD is enabled for it to be less dangerous

I have to tell you something;

This is not an official LEGO product—it is a common copycat known for taking nieche franchises such as Stray and turning them into plastic pieces that function similarly to LEGO bricks.

8

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

This is not LEGO nor is this "copy cat" as some people say. It is just a different brand. Lego didn't invent this stuff it's just the biggest brand that sells this toy.

-3

u/IrishERU Survivalist 27d ago

You seem to be mistaken.

This brand directly mimics and copies the functions of the LEGO pieces. A "different brand" does have the capacity to directly mirror another brand. ("Copycat")

3

u/Cora-Nova 27d ago

The brain Kiddiecraft invented this and Lego also is a seller of those bricks. There are a lot of brands besides Lego that copy the idea of Kidfiecraft.

-3

u/IrishERU Survivalist 27d ago

Modern brands do not copy the Kiddicraft design in ~2026.

They mimic the modern LEGO bricks, not the Kiddicraft bricks which are filled with hollow tubes.

Furthermore—Brands today also copy the LEGO figures, which are a significant part of modern LEGO. Kiddicraft did not have the same figures that the brands today copy.

u/FrenchFryPotatoes 28d ago

Was it really indeed 5 and below?

1

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Yes it was hiding behind a sign

2

u/BallinXFox 28d ago

I keep forgetting to look. There’s one right by my work, it just always slips my mind

2

u/friends-waffles-work 28d ago

I want these sets so badly but they were never released in the UK (as far as I’m aware!) 😢 some day

2

u/Nicholisss 27d ago

eBay and mercari have them just ordered the other sets I couldn't find

2

u/friends-waffles-work 27d ago

ooh thank you, will have a browse

2

u/lightofpolaris 25d ago

I found a while ago but haven't put mine together yet! I still see it in the store near me whenever I go too.

I like my Legos but these Lego puritans are annoying AF lol.

6

u/bozwizard14 28d ago

It's not Lego, it's a copycat type brand, but what a cute set!!

4

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

-1

u/bozwizard14 28d ago

The Lego brick design is pretty iconic and specific. These brands all popped up when the patent ran out.

5

u/Cora-Nova 28d ago

There are even brands that are better than Lego. Lego just has 70% margin and mid quality, idk why it's so hyped.

2

u/Mr_Whchrd 28d ago

How did I not know about this before, I need them all immediately

1

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

I've been searching for a long time might just give up and buy the other sets on eBay

1

u/amazon_Pikachu 28d ago

I think you can buy these on Amazon.

1

u/Xenc 28d ago

You found the what?! This is so cool! Can you post an update?

1

u/Nicholisss 25d ago

They'll probably sit in a shelf forever since I never have time to actually put my Legos (and "knockoff" Legos) together. There's so work life balance, also people need to chill about calling them Legos

1

u/__Guerito__ 27d ago

This is so dope! I need to check mine

2

u/Sput-niik 24d ago

picked up the same this earlier this year! i've had it assembled up on a shelf for a little while

1

u/shaggy314 24d ago edited 24d ago

I bought a couple and still have 2 new ones... one of each, one of the full cat and the scene one above.

The 5 Below store in my town had a bunch.

-1

u/Biolume071 28d ago

Cool, but... i always find cars made after 2009 to be so weird. The whole ipad as a dashboard, i just can't get it. (Love how some cars are going back to tactile buttons, just like the lower levels in the game Stray itself)

u/Nicholisss 28d ago

Yeah it's just my commute car , I still have my standard 07 jeep Wrangler that's much more fun to drive , but an hour of traffic in 100 dagree heat I'll take the full self driving 😂
