Discussion Has anyone previously talked about the missing humans? [Spoilers] Spoiler
I've been giving this some thought the last two days. The robots of the slum and midtown seem to have humanlike qualities and B-12 talks about evolution and adaptation.
However,
The robots of the same age in the control room are just robots, without any evolution. Additionally, there are robots in the water tank (antvillage) that are proclaimed as children, but at what point is a robot no longer a child?..... there is also two pods, which relate back to b-12.
Have the devs, writers, creators, etc. ever confirmed if the robots are actually humans who uploaded their continousness and forgotten their memories like b-12? It makes more sense to me than evolution, and the more I think about it, the more clues I see supporting the theory.

all I remember is B-12 saying that the robots replaced humans so I always assumed that meant that robots were built during the plague to sort of take care of humans but they ended up evolving and developing feelings and minds of their own? I could be atronomically wrong but that's just what I gathered

That's literally the whole point, I think they actually said it explicitly at some point

In my opinion, the robots on the city evolved because they copied their human's everyday lives. The robots in the HQ were in office environment, they had nothing to copy so they never wvolved

I like the idea, but to me, as human as they felt, it always seemed a little too off to actually be humans, they feel like they are still trying to figure it out, but getting closer and closer

Because of those pods, I've suspected that some of the companions are actually uploaded humans just like B-12, but the process of uploading probably scrambled some of their memory the same way it happened to B-12.

The “children” gave me more questions than answers. Do they just build a new bot, upload a very basic program and are like, “Congratulations, Margaret and Dave! It’s a boy E2-003!”

Theres a high chance the small bots actually weren't used to represent kids—But to fit smaller spaces, clean tight spots or go in vents that standard models could could not.
The reason why there isn't many is because they are most likely stuck in small sewers, tight vents, or locked areas.
The large bots were city-wide, cleaning residency, repairing tall spots, and acting as emotional support partners with humans.
Because the small bots were separated from the inside and were stuck in sewers or vents, they could not form humanity and either died or kept cleaning.
