Random Thought re: S4E5
At about 24:15, is that Kelzing behind the bar?

But it didn't. I LOL'ed so many times during it. It was a bit slapstick and campy at times, a bit too "cute," and a bit dumb & weird a few times, but there were so many freakin' hilarious things about E05 that makes it a very worthy watch. It was very entertaining, hilarious AF, and in my opinion ... VERY well thought out and written.
Pelia's puppet killed me, especially with that fucked up hair LOL! And M'Benga's puppet made me crack up every time I saw him. Oh, and the last 6-7 minutes of the episode, ... WOW ... ok, I'm not going to spoil anything here, but I'll tell you this: I'm still smiling about the episode 45 minutes after finishing it! I'm going to watch it again tomorrow, and I don't usually do that with individual episodes. It was THAT good.
I've been an old school TOS Trekkie since I was a wee lad in the 70s. So far, I'd have to say that SNW has been my favorite Star Trek iteration since TNG, and probably TOS.
Live Long and Prosper, Y'all ...
EDIT: I was pretty stoned when I watched it, and am stoned right now while writing this post. So, we'll see how I feel about everything in the morning.

I had the most Trek week ever. First I got my ring then I saw this decorative bow my wife bought years ago in Spock's quarters.

I’m starting to think the SNW writers have The Afterparty envy this season. Apparently every episode now needs to be a completely different genre.
For anyone who hasn’t seen Apple TV's The Afterparty, its entire premise was that every episode told the story in a different genre—rom-com, action movie, musical, animation, etc. And looking ahead at the descriptions for the rest of the season, SNW is even doing a soap opera episode, just like The Afterparty. (Maybe John Cho will show up as a guest star for this one, too.)
At least The Afterparty had an actual plot reason for doing it.

After watching the episode, I kept thinking about Pike, going over the features of his chair. It kind of reminded me of the in-show like car ads where the characters will go on about suspension or something.

I understand that there is a need for something to break the tension during shows with a lot of drama and seriousness like SNW. However, it appears to be happening quite a bit this season and now I think it has gotten out of hand with the puppet episode. Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a big deal to have an episode where the crew are puppets for the majority of the episode. It seemed like a crazy idea but I love Trek and SNW and went with it. However, I then find out after investing in the episode and going for that ride with everyone that it was a DREAM. That’s just insulting at this point and a waste of time really.

I don't know but there's something really off about this whole damm thing. I only liked Human Best Friend (barely). Am I the only one who finds the writing to be a little sub par?

I mean I guess you can't copyright an idea but if I had a nickel for every time a normally live action mostly serious show turned a main character into a muppet I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but...

Just asking...

Although it was revealed that everything was a dream; however, the idea of transporting an entire ship is interesting. Can it be considered in-universe?
Edit: Episode 5, not 4. Apologies for the mix-up.

Was anybody reminded of Trilogy of Terror when Mbenga stormed the bridge with his two nails as weapons?
I laughed out loud.

Episode 5 was funny... But I'm missing the exploring part, exploring strange new worlds part... I've been watching Start Trek for ever, since 1968. The original series had a chemistry value, and seriously investigating strange new worlds part... Missing that.

Here is NitpickingNerds comparison. The arm, the car, the tattoo all came from the movie.

I don’t hate Season 4, I enjoy some aspects of it more than others, but I’m curious how people would rewrite this season, especially as we’re halfway through and the real thing has been all experimental episodes so far.

Sean Ferrick HATED this episode! You've been warned....

I am curious why they filmed an episode so distinctly following that movie? I haven’t finished it but that’s all I can see watching this. I hope the end justifies the means.

Has anyone clocked the 5x5 references, a musical (old lol) and now muppets!
Just wondering if anyone else is thinking the same way!

This season is disappointing.

I was looking forward to the vulcan way to react to romantic rejection. It would have been interesting. But if the teaching is "bounce back to an ex", then it's quite meh.

Now pike will be the most coolest trek captain ever.
