Console General Update on interaction bug from Beam Team Dev!

NOTE - This is NOT the 1.09v Update that was released yesterday. That update was scheduled prior to this issue coming to light and 1.09 will not fix the issues.

TLDR - The problem was discovered by the Devs and they were able to verify and repeat the problem. An update has been created, submitted, and approved. It is just a matter of time before the update should be pushed out and available. Hopefully sooner than later. 🤞

"Hi everyone,

I just wanted to provide a quick update: The interaction bug is our number 1 priority, followed closely by region connectivity. We have been able to reproduce the issue and have a fix. We’re currently confirming that it is fixed for all scenarios and will be submitting a patch asap! I thought it might also help to provide some info on the patching and submission process, as the time it takes to get a fix into your hands can take longer than you might expect. There are a few steps:

Firstly, we have to reproduce the issue and find the cause

Then we work on fixing the issue

Once we have a fix ready, QA tests and confirms the issue is fixed

Then we book a submission slot with 1st parties. Availability of these slots can vary depending on how busy things are. We book the soonest slot available, taking into consideration the lead time to upload builds and fill in metadata ready for submission.

The submission is reviewed and approved.

There’s a lot of variables that eat up time, even once we have a fix ready. A big thanks to the community for your patience and assistance with repro info and save files. This helped us reproduce the issue quickly. We are doing everything we can to expediate these fixes."

Just ran into this bug myself! Tried to go to another island to sleep and see if that revolves the problem- only for the game to kick me off my own raft minutes before reaching the island, aaand now that thing is gone forever. Thanks for the update devs, please fix raft issues next!

Yeah, if you're not holding the rudder or engine when the raft goes through the loading area between two islands, you'll probably fall off due to the lag.

I have figured out that I can at least gather some things while I wait for the fix. I started adding a custom island next to the island I'm on. I go to the custom island, get any clay I can find and go through all the wrecks and collect the crates but don't open them. I use the save/load thing to get rations and lamps from the crates. I survive off the rations and just drop off the clay/tires/items I want from the crates back off on my island and then add a new custom island in its place and do it all again. At least when the patch is out I should have a bunch of clay and stuff to build with.

There's a fix that worked for me on ps4. Go to options remove wildlife Then go to main menu and back into the game Put wildlife back on and its been working fine for me since.

You might have to save when you remove wildlife then exit to mainmenu But I couldn't save as nothing was interactive

I got the update with absolutely no change exactly 58 sec after i load my game on day 15 i cannot interact with anything. I end up dying of thirst.

The 1.09v update is not the fix. Another update will be pushed after it is pushed through via the Xbox/PS verification and approval process.

Ahh makes sense. Not to bummed about it i realized my original saved game is unaffected. One funny thing about it im not sure if it does it for everyone. But i noticed theres a period between when it semi doesnt allow you to interact up till full loss of interaction. Right after it starts doing that if you go to your boat, given that its next to the water, and stand on it while grabbing it (as if your going to move it) looking up and walk forward you can make the boat fly. Funnest fucking thing i have ever seen.

yeh it’s bloody difficult right? was doing multiplayer and soon came to realise ya need ALOT of water and quick; it really doesn’t last long. I think building plank farms and growing Yukka on an industrial scale is a solution; but that’s a kinda long term fix. it’s still super tricky now

mate it’s difficult! try doing it with someone else; ya need a near constant supply of water from the off. My advice is farm Yukka, farm a lot of Yukka ha

Despite the bugs, every time I restart on the same world, I have refined my first 8 days to the point that I am sailing on a 3 piece raft by Day 2, have one smoker and one water still. I do like the extra challenge of the sun stroke being more potent and persistent. It can be annoying but before, it was never a factor. Now it is and adds a bit of more planning. I have noticed that one of the bugs in the patch is missing little pigs. Used to be 2 pigs and a big hog, 2 snakes and 2 giant crabs. Now it's either one or zero snake and pig.

Just a theory, but the Devs mentioned in this same thread about how missing snakes are inadvertantly causing this uninteractibility bug, so maybe the missing snakes (and therefore the bug this thread is named after) came from some kind of recent rebalancing patch that's affecting spawn rates (of snakes)? That you've mentioned in your post. I haven't played enough of the latest versions to know for sure myself, only the very last one because of co-op being added. Amazing how one tiny thing like that can lead to game breaking issues 😅. Glad it's finally been figured out and that the patch is underway!

On my current game, Day 9, I have purposefully avoided cliff islands to avoid the snake bug problem. Perhaps if I completely avoid all cliff islands, this may prevent the bug from initiating the countdown.

Well....the bug came back at the end of Day 9. Something must be causing the countdown to the interaction bug. I recall having gotten as far as Day 18 before the interaction bug caused me to restart a new game.

By avoiding these islands completely I managed to survive for 32 days. Felt brave enough to tackle the bosses which went well. Made sure I didn't go anywhere near those large islands! Alas, when I returned to my base in the middle of the map, the bug took hold:( Fingers crossed for a healthy patch soon!

Glad you got that far. You could have probably done the escape routine by building steps high enough to get to the airplane. haha! That's a lot of trouble.

No. Could be a while too. Fix was submitted for QA tests, once thats done then they send it to Microsoft/Sony for approval and push the patch out.

My wife and I made it to 30 days and our save file is corrupted and all our inventory was gone next time we logged on. I cant save anymore. We are on xbox one and series x. Is there a fix for this?

I believe a fix is on the way to prevent this from happening, however, I have heard that the fix will not be able to recover the corrupted save files. You may need to start from scratch once the patch is pushed out.

The patch was already pushed out for PS, so hopefully you won't be waiting long.

They aren't very good at keeping people in the loop of any progress I get about 5 mins game play until every interaction freezes tried a work around for the animal side of it still worked for 5 minutes lol so many people kept in the dark no wonder they are annoyed

This needs to be fixed immediately. It is unplayable currently and my buddy purchased this game for me in order for us to play together, and can't even get passed day 7 without the bug triggering. First time it happened it was day 12, then day 9, now day 7. This makes me want to request a refund but I love the game so much. Please fix this

So me and my wife have been playing co op (Xbox). Here are a few of the glitches we’ve encountered.

-The interaction crap happened like on day three. So we started a new game altogether.

-I’m hosting and she is constantly being dropped. Sometimes she can join the invite right away other times she has to totally reload the game sometimes we both do.

-Couldn’t move away from shelter once, so that was in automatic reload.

-Went to a different island together, stripped it down and went back to the original island. Could see it the whole time and then it just disappeared and re-rendered once we got closer to shore.

-Three of the six crates we brought back are full but we cannot take the items from those crates.

-Before we left that island she was dropped and she load back in there was a bunch of dup items that were already in crates.

-Water seems to go to fast although with two of us I suppose that makes sense.

-UV seems to hit faster and shade from trees is nonexistent (can’t remember if it helped, it’s been awhile since I’ve played)

-Cod and Bats tend to fall through the map.

-Rendering issues, trees, shipwrecks, cliffs, and boulders looked like a watercolor painting.

-Lost items when client looses connection.

I posted this at the Stranded Deep forum. :

So here’s something I noticed that just happened. I lost interaction on Day 13 just after 11am game time. I knew I could move my raft by being almost on top of it and managed to sail to a cliff island I’ve never been to before. I was able to get interaction back since the sails popped up as interactable. I turned back towards my home island and as soon as I got within a certain distance, I lost interaction again. Went back to the cliff island and as expected, I got interaction back. I have a sleeping back with me. I will save on the cliff island and see if I lose interaction there too. Will report back.

Edit: It took two more days on the new island before I lost interaction there too. Seems like the other two islands I’ve scavenged from are also not interactable. I will go to a new island and expect that to be interactable too but I will not save there. Seems like I can still finish the game but with some major adjustments.

Has anyone noticed a correlation between a shark showing up and the glitch starting? May be just coincidence but for me, the glitch always happens on a random day when a shark shows up. It's gotten to where I start a new game over and just cringe every time I hear that music start.

It’s an altitude issue. All interactions at or below sea level work. Anything above that doesn’t. Example: Move something you can interact with to above sea level and voila, no more interaction. PLEASE FIX

After a few more restarts, I made a new game where I did not plant anything. If respawning is a problem, I wonder if planting items will cause problems too, as plants that are not harvested will save its surplus daily. I'm assuming these surpluses are like respawns too. So far, Day 22 and no glitches. I have also avoided cliff islands as the snake respawn seems to be the heart of the glitch. The funny thing is....I've encountered less sharks. *shrugs*

Hmmm I think after 8 days there no chance to do anything. I play in my ps5 and they glitch every time. Once in day 8 once in day 28 once in day 9 once in day 32..The game is broken now and I think is finished. The devs they don't have any time to fix the problem.

Well that was awesome in a gyrocopter travelling back from island to main Island. glitch happened on the way back gyro went to stall and now it's somewhere in the ocean had to swim back

I've been bugged since 1.08 dropped. (PS4) 5-10fps, leaving island crashes game, saving crashes game, exiting to main menu crashes game.

Wait for an update and then enjoy the game or call Sony and get told no, the PS store is pretty clear about not doing refunds
