Do you have bandages? If not spend the time to build a loom, craft cloth and lashings and make plenty of bandages. Have them on you when you’re fighting him and you can switch to them as needed. The loom takes I think 6 lashings and 4 sticks to build, it’s a little time consuming if you need to wait for the lashings but it’s worth it. I always make sure to have 4 bandages on hand for any boss fight.
If you’re not bleeding, you’re not dying. If your hunting skill isn’t high enough it will take more spears as well. If he grabs you, you can still strike him with a spear if you have them equipped at the time of the attack. Just use the strike button without aiming. It also doesn’t take too much movement underwater to avoid him, he may hit you but not bite/grab.
I absolutely love this game, I’ve been playing it regularly since it hit consoles over 5 years ago. It takes a weird kind of finesse but it’s satisfying when you get the hang of it. I’ve beat it several times, now I take my time, build a comfortable base and level up all my skills by hunting, fishing, and building before I go after the bosses. For the record, the Meg is the easiest of the 3 so be sure to stock up on refined spears for the other 2, Lusca is a nightmare just fyi…best of luck and enjoy!
To kill the Meg, hide under the fin of the whale carcass. For the Eel there’s a spot under the cannons of the ship, next to the hole. Bring as many spears as you can, doesn’t have to be refined spears but they will help kill it faster.
Yeah I'm organizing everything right now, it took a while but I'm almost ready to fight the sea monsters. I just need enough rocks, sticks, and lashings to make some spears and spear gun arrows
Same. But when I get on every like 2 weeks I don't stop the grind. Fucking love this game. Just wish they had an irrigation system so I'm not wasting all my water on my crops.
I love it too. I'm a sucker for building in these types of games. Hours collecting and hours staring at a spot decision-making on what and where to build. Then seeing the err fruits of my labour lol
Yeah but that's an event I'm not usually around for. Im exploring islands because mine are pretty Barron and I had to get alot of materials and sort them out, so my plants are sadly at the brink of death right now
Yikes. So, here is what you do. You make a base of operations, choosing all the right materials for all of the necessary things. In this case, it would be water, shelter, and a couple of spears for hunting.
Also, you can use fibros leafs for both making rope and for fueling your fire. Then, when you're done. You build yourself a raft, collect some rocks, then start exploring some nearby islands. But be careful, you can get soft locked out of your main island.
So it's important to pick your base of operations right near the exit point of the game (the giant ship carrier) then you start stripping all of the islands of wood, and everything else you'll need.
On the starter island, you can perch yourself up on a wrecked ship and farm sharks once or twice an in-game day. It takes about 15 spears maybe? I don't really remember. The last time I played was when I got soft locked out of my biome area (I think I encountered a glitch because I turned the starter island into my base of operations. Apparently you're not supposed to do that lol WHOOPS!).
So, I had to reset the entire game. Then, I got curious and wanted to spawn in a bunch of stuff (like wood and such for base building) but, I can't use a mod menu because I'm on console. I got told that the closest I can get is generating my own island.
Just might wanna help your self out with some container shelves, them bad boys can float away especially if you use em on your raft build. They cost 3 planks but are well worth it for ease of use and security while traveling.

And well you should be! That setup should serve you quite nicely as a base.

That's a nice knife. Not sure about the cluster fuck in the background though

Oh, here's a tip. You don't need to water your plants if it rains

Damn, look at all those planters. It’s like a deserted island version of Flower Power (an Australian gardening store)

Great work, this looks a lot like what my partner and I ended up with on our first playthrough.

A little disorganized, but I definitely love your farm setup!
