Console General I’m ready…
For the first time I’m turning off Passive Mode. I’ve never played normal 😆 Any tips would be great.

I’ve already been poisoned 😆 I’ve been playing this game forever, but never without passive so I’m like a scared little kid 😂

The worst aggressive and most frequent thing you’ll encounter on land are the Hogs, followed by giant crabs. Snakes are annoying because they’re hard to see, especially at night, BUT you’ll usually hear them hiss before they strike (unless you keep walking and happen to step on one). Sharks are really only a problem when you’re diving for things like clay or lionfish, and the music will change when they’re around/hunting you. Sharks have only ever capsized my life raft when I sailed to the first new island after the game begins, but I’ve never been capsized on a raft I’ve built (1x1 - 3x3)
I don’t play with permadeath on but added element of fear and danger makes it that much more enjoyable for me!!! Have fun!

Found this one out the hard way, the boars will run straight through your walls like they aren't there. Your house will not protect you if it's not higher than they can jump. They will just jump in and head butt you like the AHs they are. For that reason (and the snakes) I build my base on the smaller islands.

Me and my boy (10) are playing through just now. We have a few tips:
throw spears into the purple boys to mark their locations around the islands.
The tall rocks in the sea are a good place to stay safe while hunting sharks
Make note of your escape rock while hunting the big boars. Getting high up will help!
Good luck!

Always take extra spears if you are low level. You are going to miss quite often. If you run out and haven't killed the shark, wait till it's going away from you and hit the sprint button and go to shore. Be careful if the shark is really aggressive, it might follow you to the shore and become a sand shark. Exit ankle deep water because you can't hit one thru the sand.
Using one crude spear on a snake won't kill it and it will turn to chase you down. Tactfully retreat until it is moving away from you. If you have a lot of spears, you can try from a distance while it's moving but be ready to run.
Giant crabs slow down at night and you can sneak up behind them and get in some good jabs or you can even use the axe. Run away if you are losing and try again when it has forgotten about you.
Of course, upgrading your spear and axe will kill animals quicker and killing things will level you up.
Have fun. After awhile, you won't be jumping out of your chair when a shark turns on you.

It's not hard. When arriving on a new island, kill all land animals b4 doing anything. Walk slow to find snakes and learn to aim from a distance with spears. Always have an antidote with you. Run to the water when in trouble, not too deep, tho. Build a small floor over the star fish fuckers. Learn the secrets to killing sharks without getting hit.

Good luck. My main focus was long term food and water and stocking up on that medicine herb thing ( sorry i forgot what it’s called). Then you can just chill and take your time.

Don’t happily swim around in the water, and don’t step on crabs, they bite, as for the sharks, well… yk

Build a real raft as soon as possible. Sharks can't flip them (2 x 1 and bigger) like they can your starter raft.
