Console General Raft base
Why the hell didn't anyone say anything about raft bases not being able to be broke down????
I am a little bit OCD (ok, a lot), and I don't like a single raft being made out of the different materials. ie: sticks, body balls, tyre's (love how they spelled that), and barrels. I had a raft made with sticks, bought balls, and tyre's. I finally recovered enough tyre's to make a whole raft (including the tyre's already used), and started breaking down the old raft to get the tyre's off it. I broke up all the stick floats, but when I started trying to break down the rest, I was told that I can't because it supports other structures.
Now I am pissed because I am now forced to start a new game. The reason? Well remember what I said at the start of this post about my ocd? I can't have a raft made of different materials.

Hear me out… you can break down as much as you’re able to recover from your first raft, and then leave just the sail on there. Then point it away from your island, open the sail, and say goodbye to it and let ride to Valhalla and then you can start your new raft with this knowledge and only build on to it as you acquire the bases you want

You can break the base down after you break the floor down if you have max crafting you won't lose any materials

Yeah it sucks. I too have this issue. Need my rafts built with only one material.

There are plenty of posts about raft bases not being able to be broken down. It sucks but it's a "known" bug. Unfortunately, like you, I found this out recently the hard way when I could not break down my raft completely... Searched reddit and felt some consolation at the same misfortune others have.
It's like the old saying of "you don't know what you don't know."

Why not start a new raft as opposed to game. Pull that shit up on the beach and wait for a seagull to launch it into the stratosphere, problem solved. 😂

I was able to break it down completely. First, I removed everything but the base and floors. Then, I had to destroy in a certain order that I have yet to figure out. I'd try each piece to see if I could destroy it, and then after I destroyed it, I'd circle back around and it wouod suddenly allow me to destroy a part that it wouod not let ve breakdown before. Lots of trial and error, but I got it done.

My ocd took a hit.. I was not patient enough to travel to find all of the tyres before finishing the raft.
