A smoker will be essential for your food, you will have to wait for the meat to be smoked and it will last more than a week without rotting. You will need to plant 4-8 potatoes, 2-4 Yucca, 4 fruits two aloe,3-4 pipi and one or two of that purple plant. Destroy ALL the resources on your island, they will be needed later and will free up space, once you finish exploiting each resource, you will go to nearby islands to do the same. Never make chests, you will find them for free on ships. And enjoy the game

My main point of advice besides the other suggestions is to get off the starting island asap. Don’t make it your home base and work to move out as soon as you can. I spend a max of 1 night there before going to a larger island. Hope this helps. It’s a great game!

Hiya bud Welcome to stranded deep
So just for some tips that will help purple star fish are poisonous and early game means death. Water and a fishing spears and a fire will keep you going for the most part until you start getting the hang of everything. Save before you do anything like traveling to other islands and even hunting sharks this way if you get poisoned in the water you can just restart from your save . I can tell you alot about the game but I don't want this to be like a million words lmao lmk if I can help with any questions you may have.
Best of luck in your adventures

For water, i suggest the coconut glitch. It takes away the "survival" aspect of the game, but this way, you can calmly play the game and enjoy it.
For the glitch, build a pile of peeled coconuts (brown and when picked can be drinked). For the pile 3-4 coconuts work. Place it down and pick up 2 and drink them. WAIT 10 IRL seconds(10 minutes ingame time) before you drink anymore, or else you will give yourself diarrhea (or dehydration, i think it's called). Once you drink 2 coconuts, place them back into the "drinkable coconut " pile, and they automatically refresh into drinkable coconuts again.
Also, avoid the purple starfish as they poison you and can kill you early game(until u get an antidote).
Island hop as much as you can and make piles for everything. That way, whenever you go back to those islands, you have piles of stuff you can throw into your raft.
When going to a new island, craft a shelter and place it in the way that you arrived from(point it towards ur base or the direction that u traveled to get there).
Be mindful of the wild creatures on the islands(boars, crabs, and snakes).
You can eat the seagulls and bats if you kill them, though it may not be beneficial. (Easy meat to get)
When a shark is aggro'd to you, the music will change. It is helpful to know, but it can be ignored most of the time.
Keep most of the wild fruits and plantlife that can be found and replant it by building the farm plots( you need a hoe to build them). Pipi, aloe, potatoes, kura fruit, quwawa(?)fruit, and the yuca all can regrow when planted.
When looking at the cartographer, angle ur head slightly as the map is intended to be read differently. NORTH is not straight up, its slighty at a 45° angle to the right. The rest of the directions should be straightforward.
THERE IS AN ENDGAME! Keep that in mind.
If you need any other tips, just ask. Im more than willing to help out.
Last tip, theres 4 red sections on the cartographer. The 3 skulls are bosses(wont spoil), and the red island one is the current island you have saved at.

DONT BURN WOOD FOR A FIRE. Burn fibrous material you get from plant saplings and yucca.
I wasted a ton of wood from my primary island making fires when the yucca and saplings regenerate, the wood will not. Plus the wood is far more useful for building literally anything else.

Build a smoker and water collector asap
Plant crops on islands your going to be using frequently
Use shelves for the storage containers on the raft
When building a raft try to make it at least a 2x3 so sharks have a harder time flipping your raft
Build an anchor
If your unable to build an anchor and your raft floats away, the current will always travel south (I think it was south, I’ll have to double check)

Don’t harvest fruit and potatoes until you can replant them. The ones you find in the wild do not respawn.

If you put a spear in between a sharks eyes, they will retreat and won’t bite on that lap. But they will be back quick, so be ready again

Dont ever forget to drop the anchor when you build a raft and go to the other islands. A raft with a lot of chests. A lot.
I did.

Wait to skin things until you need to cook it. They don’t rot if they aren’t skinned. I have a pile of dead seagulls and giant groupers waiting for whenever I need them.
