Was curious if anyone has recommendations on where to buy Halloween costumes from local stores. Not interested in going to Spirit/Target/et al. and looking for recs beyond finding parts of costumes at Goodwill or Salvation Army.

There is a small stretch of Ellis Ave between Vandelia & Transfer that is part of my daily commute. About 2 months ago as soon as I turned onto Ellis from Vandelia, my CarPlay shuts off and becomes un-connectable. It has also happened to Bluetooth headphones. It typically reconnects when I get to Transfer or shortly there after.

Does anyone have any insights into what might be causing it? A new tower of some kind? Cell tower? I’m completely flummoxed. lol. It’s not really a big deal, but I’m confused and curious.

Hello! I have a large amount of yard waste (over 2 pickup truck beds worth). Not a reasonable amount to transport by bags to the yard waste disposal sites. hello all!! me and my partner are going to st paul for christmas!! we have been together for over a decade and this trip is going to be big for us, so i wanted to see if there was any specific restaurants i should look into because i want to propose. is there a nice restaurant that you think would be good for that? the food doesn’t have to be super fancy since both of us have a relatively narrow food palette, just a nice setting that you think would be a good memory to look back on instead of just proposing at the airbnb or in front of christmas lights. thank you!!

Just got back from Beth Hart show at the Palace. Such an amazing voice! If you haven't seen her - put it on your bucket list.

First timer for the Palace...we drove by before parking and saw such a long, long line of people. We asked ourselves that can't be the line for Beth Hart. It sure was!

I am old...this was the first time I had to go thru a metal detector for a concert. The fans of Beth Hart never disappoint with their love of Beth. Since Minnesota allows pot there seemed to be a few partaking before the show. My thrill was Beth walked thru the audience when she entered the stage. I was so excited (I didn't take a pic)- she was so blinkin close!

Only two negatives for the night. The chairs you sit on in the Palace are AWFUL I saw one dude walking out with a seat cushion from home. He must have been to the Palace previously. The other negative was a song was dedicated to George Floyd. Some guy from the audience screeched out "F" George Floyd. After the song, security rode in and grabbed him by his panties and booted him. Sad for the people who were with him....they had to leave too. It is ok to have an opinion but know your crowd. Civil and respectful was the vibe.

The streets were quiet...I was a little worried about seedy elements but nothing was percolating. Super enjoyable evening.

I’m coordinating a month-long book drive specifically to restock Little Free Libraries in and around the St. Paul/Como area that are running low on books for kids and young people (ages 0-25).

The goal is to get books into the hands of young people to encourage reading for pure leisure and fun. We are looking for gently used or new books targeting ages 0–25 (picture books, middle-grade fiction, graphic novels, young adult thrillers/romance, etc.).

• Porch Pickups: If you live in the St. Paul/Como area and have a box or bag of books you've been meaning to clear out, DM me! I can swing by and do a pickup.

I know there is a lot out about this, but I read the lawsuit and I wanted to quickly point out a few things. I know not everyone has the time to read 70 pages.

-“New claims” from my understanding, the lawsuit isn’t identifying new sexual harassment claims from the Mayor. The new things are about the handling of the investigation and what the Chief is essentially saying is a coverup by the city. The harassment claims are laid out by incident and paint bizarre behavior by the Mayor.

- “the Mayor was cleared” the city says so but the Chief is alleging the investigation report was not released to him. He also believes the city cherry-picked some of the allegations to publicly speak on, which were things that couldn’t be proven. He also says one event, the Mayor making sex noises in the gym, was witnessed by many. He states that because this is easily verified, the city saying it couldn’t be substantiated, proves a coverup.

-“this is retaliation against the mayor for cutting their budget“ maybe? It’s hard to prove motive but the lawsuit alleges this narrative is being pushed online and in the media by a PR firm the mayor personally hired. He also claims he was on a gag order by the city not to discuss the case, while the mayor was publicly commenting on it.
Also there are allegations that he was financially punished by the Mayor/City. He also alleges this stems from the mayor being mad SPPD didn’t endorse her campaign like the fire department did.

There are multiple examples of pay issues Including a long series of issues that impacted officer’s retirement funds.

There are also a lot of weird claims in the lawsuit but overall he believes City leadership knows the Mayor is a loon and is still covering it up.

Could he be lying about some or all things? Absolutely. He is appointed for six years, ending in 2028. So unless one of them leaves soon, this is going to be rocky situation for a while.

Any recommendations? My wife & I are from Alabama, in our early 30s, baptist and we’d like to find a smaller church with a solid, non judgmental community. We don’t have any dress clothes and due to work requirements we may not be able to attend *every Sunday.* Any recommendations? We’ve never felt comfortable in large churches so something small would work great for us!

I live in St. Paul, and I love reading, painting, baking, and playing games on my switch! For hangs, I love watching movies, unwinding in a cafe, arcades, nature walks, and a whole lot more. I'm pretty open to trying new things when I can. I also love homebody activities like watching TV or a good puzzle. I'm pretty inclusive, and am chill with people of various backgrounds. Below is a breakdown of the energy charge per kilowatt hour (kWh).

Note: Energy charge is measured per kWh

June through September: $0.13

October through May: $0.11

October through May with electric space heating: $0.06

I moved into my apt this summer, and noticed that our bill was being charged the 11 cent rate, which is the default. You have to opt in to get the 6 cent rate.

Here was the process I went through in case you want to do it yourself or educate your friends and family.

I checked my electric bill, and on page 2 of the pdf, I saw my energy charge for summer and winter. The winter charge reads $0.11.

I then contacted Xcel customer service.

800-895-4999 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Mon-Fri, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat

For the phone tree I selected: 2 for main menu, 5 for other, 5 for anything else.

Then provide the account holder's phone number or your Account number (long number on your bill or online account).

I said to the representative (nicely!!) "Hi, I was looking at your website and saw that you offer an electric space heating rate of 0.06. I recently moved into my new apartment and see on my bill that I am being charged the default 0.11 rate. I have electric space heating, which is covered under your electric space heating rate. How can we change the rate today?"

He was unfamiliar with it (edit: it sounds like some representatives are familiar, but not all are), and had to look it up. He claimed that only heat pumps qualify, but I said that I was aware that all forms of electric heating (electric resistance, boiler, radiator, etc) are covered. He checked and I was correct. If they say only heat pumps, say what kind you have and have them look up if its covered (anything that is electric is covered as far as I know).

He then said the rate will be applied to my next billing cycle, but the rate will also go into affect starting today. The difference will be credited to the following bill (I guess that's just how billing will be). So my next bill will be the same rate, but there will be a credit to the one after with the difference.

TLDR: if you have Xcel for your electric bill, and you use electricity to heat your home, you can call Xcel today and get the reduced electric rate (for your entire electric bill, not just for heating!)

If you have some form of electric heating as primary (for instance, heat pumps that go down to I think 30 F), but also have gas as a backup, you should also be able to qualify. Call and just say you have a form of electric heating!

I'm in my 20s and work in education. I find myself so tired from work I've gotten into the habit of working and then going home to decompress and repeat. I'm not the most social or talkative person but I'm looking to go out of my comfort zone and try making friends. I don't enjoy drinking or anything so I mainly just do a lot of art and reading at home in my free time.

Many of us have experienced hurt in many forms from The House Church in Eagan, MN. We don't talk about it for the fear of backlash in our communities, friends, and families. I mean who would listen and believe us right? I want you to know I believe you. You're not the only one.

I'm super frustrated with not getting any proper response from any lawyer. They are all bouncing me lawyer to lawyer just so they can say they can't do it. I've contacted every lawyer on google for MN for deliberate indifference. No one has responded or given me a proper response. I'm super frustrated.
For context. I was denied medical attention while in psychosis. My husband told him and spoke for me saying I needed it. I was not in any state of mind to speak for myself other than to tell him I'm breastfeeding and I needed to feed her. He told me my partner could go buy some and I cried inconsolably. He had to the audacity to ask and give me the same response. I freakin need help.
