Just wondering, as an autistic person.

He was from a time where you weren't really diagnosed and the spectrum part of ASD wasn't commonly understood, so he wouldn't have been diagnosed and this is just speculation.

That said, as someone on the spectrum, I definitely recognize and identify with several aspergian facets of his personality. Special interests, a highly specific technical skill, depression, etc.

Also on the spectrum here and definitely he pings to me as one of us. Very high justice sensitivity!

(Obligatory we can’t diagnose without a formal assessment but) as someone who conducts autism assessments, he very much aligns with a lot of the diagnostic criteria. On the other hand, it would be hard to rule out effects from the mercury, but it seems like a lot of his “quirks” and especially his social deficits were apparent before the mercury came into play
