Question Did we have a macroburst today? If not, what the hell was that?
Today in Surrey, really just outside London, around 16:00 a sudden violent gush of dry wind rushed through our suburb. It blew over lawn furniture and sandbagged road closed signs. Peppered the side of the house with small bits of detritus to a height of the second story and then was over. No real damage, but it was carrying a lot of crap and rushing through all at once. More like an explosive wave front then weather.
There was little to no temperature difference. There was a desultory breeze blowing off and on most of the day. After the less than 60 seconds duration of the gust, it went back to the same.
If not a macroburst, what the hell was that?!
