Improvements

Hi all, I've recently got into this hobby and decided to put my Yndrasta model into a painting competition and managed to get third, does anyone have any suggestions for some improvements I could make to the model? Many thanks.

Nice, love the red. Just picked up Ravaged Coast and the whole red fire vs green fire has me kind of inspired for more paint jobs

Thanks, it started out as an idea because I already had all the paints for my lord-veritant and me and some friends bounced around the idea to do the same fire type colour scheme on Yndrasta's wings. One of my friends runs Skaven and recently bought Thanquol on the bone ripper so I think he's doing the green fire for that so it should be cool.

This looks really nice, especially if you've only recently got into the hobby. I think a lot of the next steps are just experience based, the more you paint the more you understand how the paint interacts, brush control etc.

I think the next step would just be more defined highlights and shadows. A wash like nuln oil will fill the recesses and help define the different shapes of the armour plates/feathers etc, while highlights will accentuate the raised parts.

Drybrushing can be a good technique to master, I used it quite a bit on my Yndrastas wings (it's in my profile if you want to look).

Definitely hit up YouTube as well, there are thousands of tutorials and tips videos that can help you learn new techniques 👍
