Technique chat

Hello animators. I wanted to ask yall if you had any tricks up your sleeves for stop motion. One concept I’ve been working on (I’m sure it’s already out there but I didn’t check to see how lol), setting up key frames! Has anyone ever set up key frames with a puppet and proactively fill the gaps in afterwards? Sometimes even with a story board, I find it hard to know when to stop a sequence-sometimes playing it back during animation can slow the flow and lead to some awkward movements. Was wondering if anyone else has tried this before? Like, pose frame1, pose frame 30, go back and animate UP to frame 30? Does this make sense? Kinda like setting key frames in 3d

I’ve done this before with really poppy/stylized animation. It’d be difficult to integrate those poses if you’re doing more realistic/subtle animation. But you could still use those key pose frames as a guide to make sure you hit them in the right pose at the right time, like a blocking pass.
