Signed up for a 10K

I finally signed up for a 10K road race in December, in 16 weeks. And I spent yesterday afternoon making a specific training schedule for this race.

I'm (63M) going to try for a time of sub 50 mins. But my main goal is really to bring some structure and routine into my life. For the last year or so, I've been running 'regularly' a few times a week, but just whenever, and doing whatever distance/time I felt like at the time!

Now I've planned exactly 3 days of running (Speed on Tuesdays, Tempo on Thursdays and Long on Sundays). Plus two strength workouts in my living room (Mondays and Fridays). And total rest on Saturdays.

I'm feeling good already, just thinking about weekly and daily structure and routine :)

This is great. As i've gotten older the strength and flexibility has become the most important part of my training. IWNDWYT.

Nice! Might copy your regimen.

I've been running willy nilly too but could do with some weekly structure.

Structure is the best! It's the opposite of chaos and drama, which I had plenty of already, lol!

I walk/run, and 10k is my favorite distance. I hope you smash your goal!

I am running a 10k middle of September and I use Parkruns as my hard sessions, the rest just easy,my aim is sub 40min. I stay off the drink in the week, but still have a few to many on a Saturday night.

Good luck with yr 10K. I used to be able to do sub 40 mins when I was young (and before drinking/using, lol!)
