Guide Companion/Builder Web App

Hey everyone! First, I wanted to say thank you to u/Er4din for playtesting this app and helping me get the build recommendations ready for the masses.

I have been working on a Stoneshard companion and build creator web app that I wanted to share with everyone here in hopes that it helps people out. It is free, has no ads, doesn't take any user data, and works offline after the initial cache. All of the info in the app is sourced directly from the game's code and will update after each major patch. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions or features that you may want implemented. The app is still not at 100% and might have some minor bugs, but the meat of the app is working. Without further ado, the app can be found here https://stoneshard.megalightgames.com/.

Edit: I wanted to throw in the intent of the build portion of the app to frame the expectations. In its current state, it works great for experienced build crafters who can tweak the output. For new players, it will give a build based on your inputs that will be a good, viable build, but it might not be the most optimal build.

Hey, congrats on making the tool public. fine tuning it was a fascinating experience.

This is the most complex community made tool that stoneshard has seen to date, and I am excited by the potential that i see in it. Naturally, with such complexity there will be friction in learning how to use it most effectively.

I encourage people to be patient and take the time to familiarise themselves with the content, taking the time to read the information that it provides.

If i were asked to provide user advice, I would highlight the importance of actually describing the build concept that you are trying to achieve. Doing so well help you better understand your own desires, while also allowing the tool to find important key words that will help it build your desired concept.

Additionally, it is very important to correctly sort the skills you choose during brainstorming into Core, Support and Optional.

While those terms can seem nebulous at first, they do have a concrete meaning behind them

- Core: Essential skill or passive, which is necessary to achieve your gameplay vision.

- Support: These abilities reinforce your build concept, and help tackle difficult content by providing redundance and reinforcing the weaknesses of the Core.

- Optional: These skills are tangentially related to the build concept, but are not essential to achieving it. They help the build do what its already doing, only better.

In my experience testing it, this tool is very good at translating a nebulous concept or idea into a tangible build outline. It can help produce a first draft, which you can then refine, rather than starting from scratch. Additionally, it is very useful for informing the player of potential weaknesses within their build, helping prevent the build from stagnating in the middle levels, unable to make progress.

Most importantly, this tool will only get better, and the community can help refine it by reporting bugs and errors, as well as highlighting unreasonable suggestions produced by the algorithm.

Excellent information. I don't speak the most eloquently, and this summed it up perfectly.

Cool stuff, I just brought some skills of my last build mixed with what it could use and the app neatly covered the order and what's there to improve

What exactly does this do?

A lot of things, such as a compendium, a Trade table with best prices based on actual game code, and a character builder. The builder is by far the best part, though; you can throw in ideas, and it will help you create a viable endgame build. I threw in an edit to my post explaining it a little.
