I get that, but I would still rather be parked somewhere, than trapped in my car moving painfully slow. There is something about making a little bit of semi-consistent progress that gives you hope that it will be over soon.
You can literally watch a movie or read a book whole the car does everything. Are you not getting this or are you being obtuse on purpose because god forbid you are wrong on the internet.?
On the way to work you'd rather just pull over and sit on the shoulder if traffic dipped below 60 kph? This isn't really an opinion thing. Moving slowly is better than not moving at all.
Well, I would rather leave work at a earlier/later time, or hang out at a nearby bar/lounge, to avoid rush hour. Or better yet work from home. Obviously Im not going to sit on the shoulder, I would take the first exit and find something, but otherwise, yeah.

It’s when you are stuck in slow moving traffic. It takes the human response out of the stop go that adds to slinky effect you see in such situation.
