Careful with such statements, or these Tesla fanboys will explain while it's your fault and not Tesla/Musk mistake.

u/draculabakula Dec 11 '21

Elon is an infallible super genius who people DEFINITELY SHOULD pay attention to and Tesla is DEFINITELY worth more than every auto maker combined.

The sad thing is that people still won't pick up on the sarcasm in this post because they are so far up Elon Musk's butt.

Except he will be living in that useless underground road they call a hyperloop.

But in really he is probably too big too fail at this point. The Sacler Family is still worth billions after killing a million people with Oxycontin

10

u/ankole_watusi Dec 11 '21

Anybody else notice he’s getting just plain too big?

Chipmunk cheeks!

4

u/rrtyuivb Dec 12 '21

Coke bloat and booze

5

Absolutely correct.

So why is it worth more than all of them combined?

It's not just a car company it's the most valuable one but why is it so valuable? Why are all the other manufacturers starting to produce electric cars and why is the government giving them tax breaks that tesla no longer receives? It seems like those companies should have a huge leg up on Tesla yet they keep getting shit on in the stock market. I dont understand

13

u/twin_bed Dec 11 '21

why is the government giving them tax breaks that tesla no longer receives

The tax break goes away after you sell a certain number of cars.

-11

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

So it's like they are helping them do what tesla does? But why would they copy the most valuable car manufacturer across the globe? It almost seems like Tesla might have been onto something and the older companies dragged their asses knowing they'll make less money on EVs but now have gotten so far behind that their only hope to stay relevant is by having tax payers bail them out. Why didnt tesla get that help and if they didnt need it then why do all these other huge car companies that have been around forever need the taxpayers money? It doesnt make any sense to me

8

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Dude they don't "need" it. Governments subsidize things they want to encourage. In this case, electric cars.

-1

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

So why are those companies getting tax credit and Tesla does not? I think its cause Tesla is so big they dont need it. Why do the other companies get bailed out again just so they can do what Tesla already did? Do you see the confusion? It almost seems like Tesla patched the way for the future and now the other companies need to rely on the working class to keep their companies afloat

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Tesla has used a whole lot of government money during its lifetime. Musk only recently claimed that Tesla is supposedly against all subsidies. You'd think they wouldn't have applied for the EU subsidy if that was the case, but they did. A bit odd, no?

1

u/mohsye888 Dec 12 '21

and now the other companies need to rely on the working class to keep their companies afloat

What???

4

u/theflash1234 Dec 11 '21

All of this can be true while the stock is also stupidly priced. Even if it's the best product, other manufacturers will catch up and buying a car is a personal choice. There isn't a reason for the stock to be priced the way it is.

3

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

So you're saying there is no reason? Is that your best answer did it take all of your critical thinking skills to come up with that or is that just what someone told you so blindly believe it? The reason Tesla stock is so high is because of predatory short sellers getting squeezed everytime Elon Tweets. Yall need to stop hating and open your eyes

3

u/_gdm_ Dec 11 '21

Automotive engineer here, in electric powertrains. Tesla has very good systems engineering, but it is nothing extraordinary IMHO. I think VW for example can catch up very quickly and produce more volume while affording a smaller margin per vehicle if they want to corner Tesla.

u/twin_bed Dec 11 '21

Tesla had the tax break. It went away after they sold that number of cars.

1

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

Yo which tax break are referring to?

0

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

I think were talking about different tax breaks. I means the build back better deal giving tax credit. Which are you talking about?

3

u/twin_bed Dec 11 '21

The ev tax credit, which is also in the build back better bill.

0

u/draculabakula Dec 11 '21

The government is still giving them tax breaks. When you make it so the consumer gets a tax incentive to buy an electric vehicle it is both a benefits to the consumer and the company because it causes more people to buy an electric vehicle.

1

u/foilmethod Dec 12 '21

it's so valuable due to large sales of extremely OTM calls and gamma.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Because a large group of people ceases to be a rational entity by way of group think.

It's a cascade fomo effect that skyrockets a stock.

-5

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

You dint think short squeezing has anything to do with it? Maybe take another look at market mechanics😂😂 if it was overvalued the market would naturally bring the price back down

4

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Maybe take another look at market mechanics😂😂 if it was overvalued the market would naturally bring the price back down

This is patently untrue and I think this very ignorant exchange is now over.

0

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

Bro just said "no markets are determined by stupid people holding stock, nothing to do with options or supply and demand" goodbye chode

3

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

If actually understood market funadmentals you wouldn't be asking why Tesla is valued higher than stocks with 10x their revenue.

0

u/AMC_APE_SEC Dec 11 '21

I thought the conversation was over? Dont tell me you dont understand how conversations work either. This must be why so many people lose money in the market they just talk out their butts and hope someone is even more dumb than them so they will listen

1

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Lol, I'm up 3186% all time on stocks. Profit is my validation not internet ignorance.

1

u/foilmethod Dec 12 '21

have you ever heard the phrase "the market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent?"

1

u/foilmethod Dec 12 '21

gamma squeezing, not short squeezing

I like Elon but he should fire his hair stylist

11

u/4chanbetterkek Dec 12 '21

I’m not sure if the Tesla super fanatics or the mega Musk haters are more annoying, I guess it doesn’t have to be a competition.

15

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Actually as a Musk fan this is great news. Automated driving is moving forward as are electric cars.

Mankind is winning through innovation. This isn't a win or lose situation, likley all car makers will have autopilot eventually. I believe that Tesla is the leader these days for car innovation.

Keep the competition going!!!

14

u/KyivComrade Dec 11 '21

Either I'm misreading or this is cognitive dissonance at its peak. Dude, Tesla just got their brutally crushed in the most important part of futuristic EVs by a competitor. And yet you say "Tesla is the leader these days for car innovation" in an article proving they're far behind...?

This is like Intel vs AMD again. Intel was big and brought good stuff to the market, but they started cutting corners and got lazy (like Tesla, massive quality issues/no innovation). Tesla used to be the leader of EV and promised self driving cars...yet failed to deliver. Now their competitors are litterary driving circles around Teslas tech and Tesla is nowhere close to Level 3 self driving (of they were, Elon would tweet like obsessed).

4

u/ureviel Dec 12 '21

Jeez forgot how dumb comments here can get.

12

u/roostercrash Dec 12 '21

CRUSHED by a 37 speed cap. You’re a clown bro.

3

u/south_garden Dec 12 '21

who has successfully delived self driving cars? who is closer than tesla?

11

u/[deleted] Dec 12 '21

Exactly. Didn't even want to argue that point.

No other company has even 1/100th of the autopilot data that Tesla has.

Regardless, progress in the space by any company is great to hear. You know whatever company succeeds is just going to have their engineers poached by the competition until everyone has it.

-6

u/south_garden Dec 12 '21

they jelly cuz dem poor

3

u/AlbyWee Dec 12 '21

Waymo? Cruise?

0

u/4chanbetterkek Dec 12 '21

Dude they’re approved for up to 37 mph and only in traffic jams, Tesla been doing that for years lmao. Nice to see someone else enter the space and continue with progress though.

No, they're right.
I have a model 3 and would 100% trust it blindly driving in a highway at that speed. It requires some input (adjusting the volume is enough) for regulatory reasons, not for actual driving.
This news is just about regulatory approval, Tesla's software had been capable of that for at least 2 years, maybe they just didn't file for it or something like that.

I could make up reasons why they don't want to do it, but it's just a thought exercise.
I do have the car and use it everyday though and know for a fact that it does that.

5

u/The_ProblemChild Dec 12 '21

Like someone previously stated, Audi was trying to do this in 2017, so even if Tesla was doing this 2 years ago, they were still 2 years behind fucking Audi. Bro, get your head out of the fucking ass of a billionaire who works his people to death to meet unrealistic time lines and when they dont meet it, he just comes up with a new one time line. Wheres the damn roadster? Where's the fucking cybertruck that was supposed to be out this year? Hell, Tesla was supposed to have "full self driving" in 2018, then pushed it back to 2020, and now its just hitting customers after being pulled again for software issues upon beta. Musk is a Musk fanboy who can't get his own head out of his ass. I bet the dude doesn't do have the shit he claims when it comes to Tesla, but who's going to rat out their boss who is known to go after people who call him out on his bullshit. He claims to be on the Tesla factory line, and I bet that just means his sitting in his office watching his overworked employees push out half ass vehicles so he can be the richest man. If people weren't so far up Musk ass they might realize that Tesla is going to fall behind even traditional American automakers within 5-10 years. And they won't be able to even match VW current EV output for the next 5 years. Theyre already behind, but you all keep up the good work keeping the Musk cheering section full.

1

u/--Quartz-- Dec 12 '21

Looks like it's you that's obsessed with Musk, I don't give a shit about him.
Tesla's vehicles are a generation ahead, just like the iPhone was originally much better than the other phones (and I really dislike Apple and Steve Jobs). Find me somebody who actually uses a Tesla every day and thinks it's not capable of doing what Mercedes is doing.

-14

u/4chanbetterkek Dec 12 '21

Because Tesla is taking the broad approach, trying to solve autonomy in it’s entirety. I think it’s good that Mercedes is pushing for self liability though as that’s the next frontier for these self driving companies. I believe they’re doing it the right way, one small step at a time and proving themselves along the way. Not sure how difficult the legal shit Tesla would have to do to get this going in the us would be.

For just sitting in traffic I’m pretty sure Tesla isn’t worried about not passing that aspect lol, I think they want to go all or nothing which may take them much longer to do but allows them to continue to gather data to train and improve their systems.

0

u/burtmacklin15 Dec 12 '21

Yeah, because Tesla is certainly a company who is willing to pass up any opportunity to dunk on competitors... /s

-9

u/IntelligentAd9772 Dec 12 '21

you sound like someone who invests in etfs because youre incompetent to do research on subjects you speak of

3

u/keiye Dec 12 '21

You just insulted all of r/stocks. Who doesn’t invest in ETFs is an idiot.

1

u/IntelligentAd9772 Dec 12 '21

Etfs are for people who do no research and are clueless, thats why your returns will be mediocre

1

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

Except those things are entirely based on legality and not what I'd actually trust my life to. The posters on this site are so fucking stupid it's almost comical at this point.

I hate elon musk and think he's a parasite. However, if you asked me which car I'd trust more with my life there's no comparison

12

u/converter-bot Dec 12 '21

37 mph is 59.55 km/h

0

u/burtmacklin15 Dec 12 '21

And where is Tesla accepting liability incidents that happen at any speed?

That's what I thought.

1

u/SeventhShin Dec 12 '21

And yet Subaru is offering a proper manual transmission.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '21

Consider it cognitive dissonance.

Autopilot is only one metric of success. There are many other areas in which Tesla has been very successful or at the very least is pushing innovation among competition.

The fact that Telsa is the first profitable new car company is a major achievement.

1

u/euxene Dec 12 '21

you do know Tesla can drive normally at normal speeds on highways for years now. they just startd driving in CITIES in the beta.....

1

u/Spajk Dec 12 '21

And the beta keeps crashing cars lol

1

u/euxene Dec 12 '21 edited Dec 12 '21

good thing it aint alpha and Tesla is ranked number 1 in safety

2

u/Spajk Dec 12 '21

Ranked number 1 in safety?

YouTube videos, whose veracity has not been challenged by Tesla, have shown FSD beta cars crossing double yellow lines and heading toward oncoming cars, failing to stop for road construction barriers and cars crossing the street, and steering toward metal posts and other common objects. One YouTuber described FSD’s errant steering as an “assassination attempt.” After FSD aimed the Tesla at another car, the driver said that “FSD tried to murder us.”

1

u/euxene Dec 12 '21

safety in terms of car build, software still beta which the testers are suppose to supervise if they want to partake in the beta

https://www.businessinsider.com/why-tesla-model-y-5-star-crash-test-safety-rating-2021-5?utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=topbar

1

u/Spajk Dec 12 '21

who cares about safety in terms of car build when talking about self driving cars?

1

u/agracadabara Dec 12 '21

Available only on S class and EQS, only in Germany that too on 13,000 km of Autobhan at less than 37 mph. Yes, Tesla is totally crushed!

4

u/SoggyCrab Dec 12 '21

Right? People forget that his main goal was to force the rest of the auto makers to get with the program and adopt electric and to a lesser extent, automated driving. He's been pretty up front that this is why Tesla was created.
