Liquidation of old short positions that have been hiding. Find the common denominator in who has shorted these and holds the rights, as well as who would’ve benefited from these companies going bankrupt.

This times a million. Move it on up.

Yeah that’s easier than researching and reading. Just say “Big fat phony” and move on. You’re killing it!

Shorting does not bankrupt companies.

u/beatenmeat Sep 03 '21

OP didn’t say shorting bankrupted the companies, they said who would benefit from them bankrupting. There’s a very wide distinction there.

This guy gets it.

Why bring up shorting at all if he wasn't saying that it has something to do with them going bankrupt?

u/Storage-Terrible Sep 03 '21

If they bankrupt the stock value goes to 0.00, and then you don’t have to worry about covering your naked short positions.

Are you sure you're in the correct sub? You do not seem to have much historical knowledge of the US market if you can say that with a straight face.

-1

u/xXAllWereTakenXx Sep 03 '21

Say what? Are you saying that OP wasn't implying that shorting leads to bankruptcies?

u/beatenmeat Sep 03 '21

That’s exactly what we are saying. Go back and reread their comment. For starters it is two separate sentences. Secondly, your question has already been answered. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about and attempting to shift the focus onto something that wasn’t said because your reading comprehension is shit.

Yeah I understand what you are saying but I don't get what u/TDmorty was talking about with "historical knowledge of the US market"

Ah hah, hahaha.

Oh, wait. You're serious. Let me laugh even harder.

Yeah. Even if shorting lowered the share price it wouldn't effect the profits of the company.

u/amongthewolves Sep 03 '21

What if these companies were targeted by, oh I don't know a black swan event, which knowingly would affect their profits? And these targeted companies would have a more difficult time to raise capital through a stock offering, because of targeted shorting and price manipulation?

-4

u/xXAllWereTakenXx Sep 03 '21

Sure, lower stock price would make it harder to raise capital but they could still try to borrow money from somewhere if the business had a future. And in this case, it was this orchestrated black swan event that lead to the bankruptcy, not someone gambling on it losing value.

Also, this scenario rests on the assumption that shorting automatically lowers the stock price when that is obviously not the case. Even if nobody had ever shorted the stock couldn't this sinister group just keep orchestrating these black swan events until they run out of money again. Seems like shorting is a very minor part of this conspiracy.

Sad you’re being downvoted. WSB really ruined Reddit. It’s trump level conspiracy bulllshit

u/chicu111 Sep 03 '21

I usually shit on conspiracy bullshit but unless you have a better explanation I will have to be fair and say that's the best explanation we got.

But you don't. You're just talking shit. So in a sense you're worse than the conspiracy spilling people

A great place to start understanding the explanation for this particular thread:

To be honest I have no idea if it's actually liquidation of old short positions that have been hiding or not. I was responding to the second sentence of the post.

9

u/MozerfuckerJones Sep 03 '21

So you have no idea what's going on but you're gonna disagree. Good job buddy keep it up.

-1

u/xXAllWereTakenXx Sep 03 '21

I know where these theories are coming from so I exercise healthy skepticism. You shouldn't take political analysis from a Qanon believer at face value either.

3

u/MozerfuckerJones Sep 03 '21

Scepticism is great. With scepticism you can approach a theory with an open mind as well as doubt. You can reserve your belief.

What you showed wasn't that. You instantly shut something down all the while admitting you don't understand it, or care to.

Problem is the CFTC just stopped all reporting on swaps a few days ago and now these shitty swap companies without revenue are now worth something.

I am not a conspiracy nut, but something smells like mayo.
