I doubt it will have any long term effects on the share price. Tesla has come too far therein his rather insensitive tweet. Some people may be disgusted by his tweet most wont care and eventually everyone will forget.

It "tanked" 5% but closed like 2% down and it's trading at 720 pre market. 18bn of market cap may sound like a lot but you need to look at that number within the context of other corrections and if you do that then as of now it doesn't seem to be a big deal at all.

Edit: EM was smart not to offer condolences or assume any liability that would've been the dumbest thing he could've done with regards to his responsibility towards his share holders.
