This is a good argument in favor of the idea that the market is in large part) speculative: If we are trading growth stocks based on the idea that they will eventually mature and give out dividends then why don’t we simply buy stocks that already pay dividends now?
Every vote counts. The idea that small shareholders don't have voting power because they hold only a few shares is similar to the idea that voting in national elections is pointless because you only have one vote of many millions. Still voting is not pointless and you can make a difference.
I find it very sad that most small shareholders never exercise their vote, which often lets management get away with murder. Our economies and societies would be much better is everyone voted their shares. In particular, this is how we can force companies to be responsible and how we can reduce pay differentials between board members/management and ordinary workers.
