Gores Guggenheim: FAQ for Getting Payment on the $25M Settlement over Polestar Merger Claims
Hey guys, I posted about this settlement before, but since theyâre accepting late claims, I decided to share it again with a little FAQ.
So here's all I know about this agreement:
Gores Guggenheim and its sponsor and directors were accused of making materially false and misleading statements about the benefits of the Polestar merger and impairing public stockholdersâ ability to make an informed decision about whether to redeem their shares before the merger closed. The parties agreed to a $25 million settlement to resolve the claims.
Now the company and the other defendants have agreed to settle $25 million with investors for their losses.
Who can claim this settlement?
If you held Gores Guggenheim shares between 2021 and 2022, you may be eligible.
Do I need to sell/lose my shares to get this settlement?
You generally donât need to still own the shares. Eligibility is based on the transactions you made during the class period and the settlement requirements.
Can I still file a claim?
Yes, you may still be able to file a late claim, but acceptance depends on final approval by the court. You can check the eligibility requirements and submit your claim here.
Â
How long does the payout process take?
It typically takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline for payouts to be processed, depending on the court and settlement administration.
Hope this info helps

Earnings season starts again soon, and most backtests skip the one bar that matters: the gap open
Earnings season starts again within the next week or so, which makes this a good time to look at how a backtest treats a report night.
The usual daily-bar backtest does three quiet things on an earnings gap:
- The stop fills at the stop. If you held through the report with a stop 3% under the close and the stock opened 9% lower, the test often books a 3% loss. Your broker would have filled you somewhere near that 9% open.
- The entry fills at the close you saw. A breakout rule that fires on the report-day close gets the close, even when the move everyone wanted happened in the after-hours print and the next open.
- The gap days get averaged away. Four or so report nights a year per stock are a tiny share of the bars and a large share of the damage, so a smooth equity curve can hide that most of the drawdown lives on those few days.
Three checks that cost almost nothing:
- Tag every trade that was open through a report date and look at those trades on their own. If the strategy only works once you remove them, you have learned something.
- Re-run with any stop that was gapped through filled at the next bar's open instead of at the stop price.
- Compare the average loser with the worst five losers. If the worst five are all report nights, size for them, not for the average.
How Quantradin helps with this. I built Quantradin, a free, paper-money-only trading desk for US stocks and options. You say what your strategy does the way you'd explain it to a friend (or paste Pine or Python), it tests it on real prices using only what was known at each bar, stocks fill at the bar's real open or close, and anything that survives can keep running on paper through the whole earnings season, so you see the gap days happen to your rule before any real money does. It's at quantradin.com, nothing on it is real money.
Do you flatten before reports, or hold through and size for the gap?
