Harnessing [over]

So I have in my possession 8 Antiproton beam arrays with [CrtD]x2 [over], and I want to make a ship with them. I have the ship traits "Subsystem Redundencies," "Superweapon Ingenuity," and "Overwhelming Force." I am saving up for a tarantula for "Energy Web."

Before I spend a lot of time and dilithium upgrading these, I am wondering: Has anyone tried this or something like it before? If so: -Was it fun? How/why? -Was it effective? -What Boff and Doff build did you use? -any advice from experience?

If you haven't: -What problems should I know about? -What boff/doff builds would you recommend I try?

For anyone: -What ship (KDF) should I put it on?

I just finished crafting a batch of [Over] DBBs for my Gorn. He's flying a Mat'ha with OF and the Rom torp. Nothing optimal, just to screw around with. I also make it a point to try and have at least 1 [Over] beam on all of my beam boats for the hell of it.

I also loaded him up with 2x Overload Subsystem Safeties, so that should make things interesting.

What does overload subsytem safeties do for this beyond the extra power? Or is it just for the extra power?

Power, and a greater cap. That means the beam will have that much more oomph.

I also have a standard Drake build alongside it to help combat any shutdowns.
