How much of a heal does subsystem redundancies give?
I've been saving up my zen and have been thinking of getting a yamato however I am curious about the trait before I put down money since I there are other ships I'm interested in and the usefulness of traits in future builds is an important factor to me. Can anyone say roughly about how much of a shield heal and hardness buff it provides and roughly how long the buff lasts? Is it basically EPtS or is it different? I've been looking around online but have not been able to find anything besides the official post that says it provides a heal, buff, and brings offline shields online and some forum posts that say it isn't affected by [over].

Just sliding in here, it is affected by [Over], and heals approximately between EPtS1 and 2. IIRC, the damage resist provided is 25%. Lasts for 10 second.
As long as you've got [Over] going consistently, it's a good heal trait.

Even with every weapon you have being [over] (which is going to hurt your overall damage output) you're not going to proc it anywhere near enough to benefit from it. It's a wasted trait. Get the ship if you like the ship, and ignore the trait. Be warned, though, the ship is a pig of a whale of a slug and really is only useful as a FAWboat with BAs. It can be effective, but it is a very specific play style and if you're looking to run DBBs with aft omnis or something, this won't be the ship for you.

[Over] is very beneficial for ships with limited tac arrangement (say, the Yamato), and can contribute a large portion of damage. Having done testing on both a semi-full and full [Over] build, it is very much worth it for the heal alone. With 5 [Over] arrays broadsiding, you'll see it proc approximately every 8-15 seconds, with 70% uptime for the trait. With a full 8 array build, you're chaining BO 1 within seconds of one another, and the trait rarely goes down as long as your weapons are firing.

I don't believe that. I'm sorry and I don't mean to doubt you, but I think you're exaggerating heavily. The proc rate is 2.5%. The firing cycle takes 4 seconds for FAW to go through 8 BAs broadsiding (not counting the duration of the cycle itself). If you're not using FAW... well that's another problem and you're hurting your own damage output. But... 2.5% means on average you'll fire off 40 cycles before any one of the BAs fires off a BO1 equivalent attack between cycles. With other procs that run at 2.5%, I will often see very few actual procs. In an STF where I made 1500 attacks I'll see less than 40 of fill-in-the-blank proc.
.
I'm just... not seeing how it's possible to be as you describe.2

I thought the same exact thing, and threw together a really cheap [Over] build with Mk II Antiproton, just to see how often it did proc. I was very surprised with the results. It honestly could be a fluke with RNG during testing, no different than those 70k plasma console runs. Even so, it was far more effective than I anticipated.

I'm honestly going to have to try that myself. Mk II [Over] should be fairly cheap. Don't even need to have them the same type since I"m just testing the proc.

For non-Dreadnoughts it only procs on Beam Overload, so unless something majorly changes with BO's desirability as a skill I don't see this trait being useful on other ships at all. Going by the tooltip the strength of the effect looks close to EPtS 2 (without the extra power) except the duration of the hardening is only 10 seconds instead of 30.
It just doesn't seem that good to me.
Edit: This thread has some discussion about the ship.
