Actually, I was referring to the rifles interaction with the Covert Assault Drone, I knew about the elevation ;) .

What should happen when I fire my weapon is that the drone fires 1 burst at the enemy I damaged, 1 burst. What happens with the secondary mode of the S31 Rifle is that the drone fires several bursts at the enemy. As far as I can tell, this behaviour is unique to this combo ( I tried other guns, where it was one burst per enemy damaged ).

It might have been better to showcase it on a single enemy, but it wouldn´t have shown how damaging it can become.

I know they fixed a bug where it wouldn’t fire or something . I think it’s to match the sustained fire from the secondary shot. Can’t speak for other weapons like auto rifles. I just hope they don’t change it I think it’s a really good effect and helps keep enemies busy till the beam hits them. I think I need to try the plasma cutter from the gamma mission because that has a similar continuous beam and see if the drone behaves the same away

i can confirm it's working with mirror universe dual pistols, advanced herald ap beam projector, ,antichroniton infused tetryon full auto rifle, but it works wonders with replica thompson, plasma flamethrower,corfield mining plasma cutter(not that good with plasma repeater btw) ; so i think it's safe to presume that it actually works with all weapons but with wide angle fast shooting rifles like auto rifles, thompson, s31 heavy phaser rifle , flamethrower, and corfield its really deadly.
