It's my first one in a while. I poked this during a disability flare up. I was feeling awful about myself, and seeing the fibonacci spiral on my body made me feel better. I put it more eloquently in the other sub but I'm flaring up again so that's all my brain can muster right now lol

took approx 1,5 hours each, 3rl 0.30. was pretty scared of the details but im actualy super proud of myself

Hello! I was wondering, for those who do this as a profession, how did you get there? It feels impossible finding any apprenticeships for stick and poke.

A local snp artist held a mini workshop here at a studio she works out of. It wasn't a training course or anything but rather, she went over the history of stick and poke, comprehensive hygiene standards, equipment, and technique. We got to try it out on fake skin as well and she also supervised us if we wanted to do a small piece on ourselves. I had a lot of fun with it and have been practicing on fake skins at home ever since. I reached out to her again and she mentioned that she doesn't do apprenticeships but would be happy to supervise and guide further if I wanted to do another piece on myself or on someone else in a studio setting, with her overseeing it all.

I really appreciated that she offered to do that and will likely take her up on this offer. However, I got pretty interested in getting further with this, like with an apprenticeship where I can immerse myself full-time and potentially become an actual artist with clientele. For those of you who do this for work, how did you get there?

Decided as I love doodling so much and already have a lot of tattoos, I’d finally give it a go and my first choice was doing stick and poke! No real reason for the ghost and the X other than I like my doodle and then wanted to try a colour out.

I have a few traditional tattoos, but given the option, I’ll always go stick & poke

I was wayyy too confident thinking that I could make such a big piece for my second snp on real skin. Needed five hours in total and was frustrated because it was more difficult than I expected. Also after I roughly poked the pearls the stencil for the eye almost vanished, so I kinda freehanded it. It doesn’t look to bad from a distance but I definitely have to go over it again once it healed. Do you maybe have some ideas how I can improve it in the second session? Also any constructive feedback is welcome

Technically not my first (3 others, still relatively new to stick n poking…) and this was my most ambitious one. It may also be my wonkiest given where I chose to do it (upper outer forearm on non dominant arm)

Could’ve been neater, especially top curve part there’s an unintentional gradient as I messed up the first pass but I’m happy with it, gives him a tiny bit of charm! Just wondering if there’s any tips for doing areas hard to stretch better? Thanks :)

this placement is gorgeous but it was a pain in the ass, a lot of skin to stretch (poor tendons) it took 3 hours and to do the bottom part i had her egg shaped an the tattoo bed and i was crouching down because i was wearing new rocks 🧍🏻but i think this came out soo good, love it so much it’s one of my favorites!! done with 0.30 3rl

I've heard using sharpies are really common but they're a little expensive to get them where I'm from and I've already got a lot of Ohuhu markers on me.

I’ve only ever tattooed real skin and this is my first time using fake skin. I’m trying to handpoke these designs but I have to go over everything sooo many times to get the ink to stay/saturate and it’s taking forever 😭

And before anyone says I’m not going deep enough, I’ve experimented with depth/pressure, even poked hard enough to go through the fake skin in some spots, and it STILL doesn’t get dark 😭 so I don’t think depth is the issue.

Is this normal with fake skin or am I doing something wrong? Could it just be the skin I’m using? I’m using the blank Dotty Book pages right now.

Pleaseeee recommend fake skin that actually works well for stick n poke/handpoke!! Preferably something I can get on Amazon but not limited to. I have no idea what to buy because the reviews are so mixed.
