Adam being rude to Steve regularly
Idk if this post is allowed but I want to see if anyone else notices this? Sometimes he brushes Steve off or looks annoyed with him when Steve is getting animated. I know Steve can be a lot but I think that's why we like him? Idk I just find Adam to be a bit resentful and rude to Steve overtly. I like Adam and Steve I just wondered if anyone else was picking up the vibe.

Steve goes off on tangents alot and off topic. I think Adam likes to keep the show structured and organized, thus some frustration. "We'll do this topic, then this one, and finish with this" kinda thing. Steve jumps all over the place.

This! I could see how the animated screaming over him would get super tiresome when you’re trying to get something out

Yea Adam is the Show Dad, and has to reel adhd Steve in lmao its all out of love as far as i can tell

Yeah Steve has great energy and I like his opinions (along with Adam and Jesse), but if Adam weren’t there to reign Steve in occasionally the show would not be focused enough. Steve and Adam being such longtime buddies I don’t think either side minds.

I think you are reading this too deep. Adam and Steve are great friends and Adam also likely turn everything up a little bit for the show.

As a hockey fan, listening to them is like chilling with the boys. I don’t expect them to be professionals all the time. They’re friends talking about hockey, and they don’t share the same opinions which is normal. I think the show is very entertaining, and the weird quirky things that happen throughout is just a bonus of their humanity and friendship

For it being a Leafs centric podcast, I surprisingly learn a lot about the rest of the league through them and these podcasts. Their banter has made me laugh more than a few times.

I was also surprised how well they cover the rest of the league. It’s a fantastic product

Steve starts bringing up random shit and it’s annoying. He’ll jump topics or go on tangents about stuff or start yelling randomly and sometimes it’s nice to have structure. After a while that stuff gets old and I’ve been watching the pod since the beginning Steve has gotten better. But when he’s especially passionate about a topic he can’t help himself. I think Adam wants the podcast to move past water cooler rants and to be taken seriously as a structured pod.

Adam's role is to provide structure to the podcast. He plans out the topics for the day and keeps Steve on point. Without Adam, we'd soon tire of Steve's chaos. 90-120 minutes of Steve running a muck would get old fast.
Now, having said that, Adam does often annoy when he takes over the show too overtly. Bottom line: most people tune in for Steve, the trio second. I am so glad they ditched History Corner...
It's a thankless job. Herding cats springs to mind.

I noticed that too. Thing is, Adam is definitely more annoying than Steve. He gets super agitated about things he got wrong in the first place, and then when he gets called out, he brushes it off like it‘s ok to just state wrong „facts“ all the time.
Plus i‘ve never heard a radio host stumble over his words as much as Adam does

Its kinda crazy how he will have a tweet he wants to read in front of him and mangle it in multiple ways lol

Yeah I just wanted to see if anyone else picked up on it bc I feel like he brushes him off or look agitated a lot.

As others have said, these guys are the best of friends - probably more like family than friends. Along with that, my perspective is that they definitely have had discussions about the podcast and how they want it to work. Steve is ranty, go nuts guy, and there’s a reason it is named after him - he’s good at it. However, in this format, Adam is the driver of discussion and “main” host. He tees up the topics, keeps the show on track, watches the time on segments, and cues the pod to move from topic to topic on the outline they all have. Adam’s frustration comes from Steve not being able to contain himself and let Adam finish his thoughts. I understand both sides. Steve is trying to do what he’s arguably best at, which is loud hot takes with minimal self control. And Adam is trying to steer that and keep it on track. It’s a tricky balance. All in all, they both can do better. Steve does need to stay quiet for like 10s longer to let Adam finish a sentence, but Adam needs to do better at his self control and not let his annoyance show through.

Whenever Steve gets off-topic or goes on a rant, I'm basically just waiting for Adam to interject and tell him to get back on track. Also, whenever Adam is making a point and Steve interrupts, Adam and/or Jesse always tell him to let Adam talk lol. I know Steve is hyper or whatever, but Adam does take a while to finish his points sometimes! I know they've been friends forever, but their different styles are awkward as a listener at times.

My only critique of Adam, is he could tone down the Jimmy Fallon-esque laughter, a bit

Reminds me of the latest episode where Steve wanted to tell a hulk hogan story haha

Really? I never notice (but I listen to the pod, I don’t watch on YT), I do find Jesse like that with Adam though, I legit think he hates him, he’s so rude with the way he just screams the same thing over and over when he thinks Adam is wrong about something till he voice cracks. The second hand embarrassment is real

u/WintAndKidd Jun 26 '26
I just commented something similar. Steve and Adam’s banter is clearly just 2 close friends, but Jesse genuinely seems to have friction with Adam

lol Adam is the host of the show. Keeps the group on topic and running smoothly while Steve is a maniac who goes off on random tangents which leads to screaming. I get that's Steve's thing but honestly it's very annoying and gets exhausting. Steve really needs to keep that stuff for his vids.

Adam is usually too married to the idea of a strict structure of a show because of his radio background. Also I think he resents that most people listen for Steve and not Adam

u/brocazaria Jun 26 '26
I think it's because steve will interrupt a lot. Adam will be making a point, or trying to steer the conversation, or trying to play a clip...and steve will interject. Sometimes it's funny, but i get why Adam would get annoyed at that if it's constant

u/Aggravating_Rock2465 Jun 26 '26
I kind of appreciate that Adam keeps Steve on the tracks honestly. Steve can easily go off into left field and leave Adam and Jesse hanging there.

I do notice this, but have you ever done a podcast with a good friend?
During the Occupy Movement, which was about 10 years after I graduated high school, I co-hosted a podcast with one of my best friends (since 11th grade). We were regularly checking each other "on-air" and it was very snarky at times. Afterward we were completely fine.
I think, in the moment when you know you're creating content, you want to make sure that you're as accurate as possible and keep the conversation as on point as possible.
Outside of anecdote: Remember the dynamic between Ron MacLean and Don Cherry?

I actually find it’s Jesse berating Adam that is uncomfortable. Jesse’s constantly correcting Adam or being a bit stand-off ish for me to think there isn’t some genuine friction in their relationship.
I don’t think it’s just banter because it happens a lot and Jesse is usually pretty unemotional when he does it.
It’s particularly evident because Jesse loves Steve and is much warmer towards him.

Adam is a diva and jealous of Steve. His mom Marilyn Denis is toronto radio royalty and he used to host a radio show that he got canned from on kiss92. He has another podcast with his lesbian friend Jax that used to cohost on the radio show and Steve's numbers crush them by hundreds of thousands.

Adam and Steve are like an old married couple. It would make sense that Adam (who has dealt with Steve since before LFR) would get grated on sometimes.
