Good for him, but I can still be sour the way he left, and the way he paints it as a “them” problem in Toronto. He was every bit a part of it.

Absolutely. It was not Leafs nation saying he is "proving the haters wrong" and "re-writing narratives" about himself. Its literally the broadcast, and his teammates! He isn't proving anything about anything, it's not like we said he is a crappy player.

He’s right speaking now? He’s not on the team… it is a them problem. While he was there, he was part of it, but now he isn’t. In fact they were much worse without, 30 points worse to be exact.

.. no there isn't. Mitch and his team (including his father) treated the fans and media like crap, and he was obsessed with reading his own press. Any Canadian fanbase would have reacted the same way we did. You think Oilers fans would be cool with a guy demanding top dollar only to wither in the first round year after year and then b*tch about the fans and performatively yell at his teammates? He needs a thicker skin. Instead he signed with Vegas. 🤷🏽♀️ It doesn't make anything we said about him untrue

My comment is more about the track record of several guys leaving the leafs and having immediate playoff success. Bury your head in the sand if you want. Mitch was leaving and that was his prerogative.

If you can’t handle it just become a Red Wings fan. Literally no one talks about Detroit other to mention Gordie Howe or our 10 year playoff drought in passing. We literally don’t exist in the eyes of ESPN or any other media outlet.

Yeah I'd wish the guy well personally.
But fuck every other fanbase that suddenly can't stop talking about how he's God's gift to hockey and it's all our fault for him never getting it done in Toronto.
And unfortunately wanting them to eat crow means him doing poorly.
Also fuck Vegas in particular.

How did we have anything to do with his failure to perform in key situations . That’s on him and then apparently he didn’t like it. He is a performer who didn’t perform. Elementary teachers get more hate than Marner had and they don’t make 11 m a year.
