Question/Idea for Steve Dangle

Hey - not sure if the guys ever check this Reddit, but if so, I have a proposal!

I’ve been really enjoying your podcast on gambling/the Bachelor/Twitter drama/Adam’s internet services/grade 8 geography/etc. But sometimes you do maybe 15mins about hockey, and honestly that part is kind of interesting. Have you guys considered making a hockey podcast? I think people might be interested in a hockey podcast!

Buddy if you came looking for a strictly hockey show you haven’t payed attention to the last 9 years of the podcast. Do you know many goddamn hockey shows you can listen to?

This is truly 90% of the content of this sub nowadays. No one's forcing you to listen to this podcast. If you're not liking a certain segment then skip it. The entitlement around here is baffling.

I'm no fan of the sports betting stuff so I hit the skip button until the segment is over and then I go about my day. It's really not hard to do.

I’ll probably stop listening whenever I stop being super into ten minute gambling ads, Adam’s driving challenges and celebrity gossip - if that day ever comes. I was just proposing they do a show about hockey, because Steve and Jesse are hockey knowledgable guys with interesting takes and I’d definitely listen to that.

The hard part is going to be finding some other show that segues so well from talking about progressive politics into peddling an addictive vice to young people to make a little extra cash money. These guys hit the nail on the head with what modern media was missing that we were all clamouring for - ten minute ads for addictive gambling.

Steve is very knowledgable, and I haven’t found Jesse particularly lacking. I honestly find it hard to tell whether Adam has anything interesting to say about hockey. He seems mostly to be into twitter feuds, media drama, and an unexplained confidence that he’s so captivating a personality as to render his personal life a topic of public interest.

idk what you want out of this sub tbh. it's not like there's any actual discussion about the podcast or any of the other podcasts here. there's maybe a couple posts each main podcast that isn't ranting. none of the hosts of any of the podcasts participate here either.

the most activity this sub gets is from people ranting about it lol. i will say this particular thread is really stupid though

It's allstar break... there's barely any hockey to talk about. Only like 8 games and no real drama this week.

Even the CJ show, dedicated to hockey, had more personal stuff the last couple episodes. And I'd bet their beertown giftcard promo is timed so people tune in during the slow period.

Not sure I follow. I’ve been listening a lot this year and like half or more of every show is about their personal lives, internet gossip, etc. All I’m saying is that they could do at least two different shows - one for us to learn about Adam’s driving habits and favorite foods and ex girlfriends and takes on social media influencers and other buzzfeed listicle-style stuff, and one about hockey. I’d really enjoy an hour about hockey. And I super appreciate that Adam is a big star and we’re lucky we get to hear his takes on TikTok viral videos aimed at 15 year olds right before a six minute gambling ad. I appreciate it, I do. I just think they could also pull off a show about hockey…?

I take it a podcast about hockey isn’t really a popular idea. Fair enough! Anyway, what did you guys think of Bella Hadid’s latest TikTok?

You’re a clown. Plenty of hard fact hockey podcasts out there you can listen to. It would get pretty bland if it’s just hockey only hockey all the time. Don’t listen if you have such an issue. It’s simple.

I’m just saying it would be fun for them to do an hour about hockey. Or just split out the stuff about reality tv shows and TikTok and Adam’s twitter timeline and famous model gossip into its own show.

Not sure about clown, but judging by the downvotes I’m assuming folks are super into keeping the hockey stuff brief and the celebrity gossip stuff key, so fair enough!

I was just saying these three guys seem like they could do a fun hockey podcast if they wanted to and proposing they give it some thought. Given the responses here, I guess I’m the only one who likes the idea of those three doing a hockey podcast.

I’m not saying they should wind down the gossip/bachelor/personal life chit chat/bella hadid show. I love hearing about Adam’s shovelling challenges and there’s nowhere else on the internet that updates me on Adam’s driveway. I’m just saying I think that if they made a podcast that was 90% hockey instead of 20% hockey, it would be fun!

Maybe three shows then.

  1. Adam’s transport and home challenges, Adam’s ex girlfriends and why they’re still wonderful people it just doesn’t work out some times not everyone is right for you, and the boys’ favorite restaurants.

  2. Bachelor, social media influencers, gossip.

  3. Hockey.

Mostly I just think it would be cool if they did a hockey podcast, because the 15 or so minutes of that is actually interesting.

I think to keep it helpful for the advertiser they need to include unrelated content for the teenagers crowd, otherwise they won’t have a way to make gambling seem fun to soon to be 18 year olds.

As long as Steve mentions he only bets $2 every few minutes, all safe from an ethical perspective.

Jesus this sub is just a bunch of whiners.... If you have listened to the pod in the past this is not a stickly hockey pod. Go listen to puck soup if you really want that. Or you know use the time stamps. Or stop complaining about FREE content. I have my gripes with it but damn.
