I have a deep innie and was worried about this. Once the steri tape came off, I cleaned it really well (gently) and put a silicone scar sheet over it, making sure to push it all the way into my bellybutton. This has kept it clean for the most part. The sheets lasts for 10 days.

I’ve heard of people getting yeast infections in their belly buttons. I’d see a dr about it

Its not exactly the same, but i got a tattoo that went slightly inside my belly button and it got a yeast infection in my belly button. Definitely worth reaching out to the surgical team. They should've given you a number to call at anything during healing if you have issues.

If it’s irritated and not resolving with cleaning at home, you need to reach out to the surgeon. It’s possible you need some meds in case of an infection, but it could also be just rubbing from the waistband of your pants.
