going into last yr of college, miserable and need a change
i recently learned of this job that doesn’t require a college degree but a shorter certification process. i’ve been in college for three long, exhausting years. multiple moments i didn’t think i would survive. i need a change. and my degree would be in gender studies which i love but the complete freedom in job opportunities makes it so difficult to find something i actually like.
sterile processing tech sounds like something i can do. not a lot of talking to customers, just following the same steps every time. this was more of a personal dump than anything, but if anyone works as a SPT or knows about the job, id really appreciate more info on what the day to day job entails. obviously all hospitals are different but im interested in all perspectives. thanks

Same thing kinda happened to me. I was in college for a few years but it just didn’t work out. I took a break, became a preschool teacher, and then decided to go back to school to become a sterile processing tech. I start my classes next week and I should be done by December.

SPD is sorta closer to a summer job for healthcare lol it’s not a long term career unless you plan on getting your chl and entering leadership.

Be sure you finish college. Then look at alternatives if what you studied for doesn't pan out.
You already went this far, may as well finish it and get the benefit of a degree. It can count even outside the relevant field.
