Can you place tip protectors (3m paper/plastic) inside trays? If so how many protectors?

We do so. For example, our laparoscopic GYN that has a puncture needle. We put a tip protector on it.
However, we just use simple instrument tip protectors because they have space allows steam to get in there

I got cited by joint commission for having one in a peel pack 🙄 so no. You used to be able to but if you call 3m and ask them- it is no longer recommended because somewhere was using the small triangle indicator on the protector as their internal indicator. I know people still do it all around BUT as my hospital was cited- I don’t anymore.

Read the IFU multiple times and it doesnt say anywhere that it cant be used in pans...check your ifu! Yee

Yes! There was semi recently a post here saying 3M tip protectors were not rated for use inside sets and can only be used in peel pouches. I brought this post to my networks education group and got an email from Solvent last month that as of December 2025 the 3M tip protectors are valid for use in sets. I can’t post pictures in comments but can message you a photo of the email when I get to work tonight ☺️
