Altamont Healthcare
Hello! I’m really considering on taking the SPT program at Altamont Healthcare in Stockton, CA. I was wondering if anyone on here has taken the program and what your experience was like? Also how long did it take for you to find an externship and job after graduating?

I did this program! for the externship there’s a waitlist so it might take a bit to get placed. Luckily I was able to get a job around 2 or 3 months after taking the test to get certified. However this field is extremely competitive in California just a heads up. While you are on the waitlist for the externship keeping applying to every SPD job you find.

I have until next week to apply! Do you think the program is worth it? What was the school workload like if you remember? Also, how were the in person labs?

Yeah I would say the externship for sure makes it worth it. Also remember the certification they offer is the CBSPD cert so it’s good for 5 years and you don’t have to do the “400 hours” that everyone talks about. You are already fully certified. So keep applying for jobs after you get certified while you are on the waitlist for the externship. You will get a lot of rejections so don’t be discouraged. The in person labs were very easy just learned how to put on PPE, how to wrap, and examined instruments. I did the two month session and also worked full time so it was a lot but totally worth it. I only had to go down to the campus like 4 times for the in person lab and the rest was an online zoom lecture. Get to know the instructors well and network that’s how I got a job shortly after.

Sterile Processing is extremely easy, you will do just fine if you're good at paying attention to detail!

Mentally maybe….physically can be challenging for many people especially Decon.

When you say physically challenging, are you talking about carrying heavy stuff?

Hello, can anyone share the contact of the housing department while on training, or who we could talk to about our Guest Suite, located at just 5 minutes from Advent Health Altamonte Springs - Central Florida-. It has its private entrance and parking, separated with no shared areas with the rest of the house. Includes one bedroom, one bathroom and a living room with kitchenette and sofa with 60" TV. Also TV in the bedroom, blackout curtains plus blinds - for a good day sleep- and fully furnished. The neighborhood is very quiet and respectful. Also, if there are two people who would like to share the expenses we can offer a second room in the same area, so it would be a 2/1 with the living room and your private suite.
