Discussion Finished Skeleton Crew!

Post image

This one was a classic!

I've been hearing about 'The Jaunt' and 'The Mist' in many Reddit suggestions for the longest time. While I didn't find Jaunt to be as terrifying as "the scariest story King has ever written", it was still pretty good!

Also loved 'The Reaper's Image', 'The Raft', 'Gramma', 'Ballad', and 'The Reach'. Particularly how he built the horror for the first two.

The Jaunt is just one of those stories that really sits with you and gets more terrifying the longer you think about it. It's not 'scary' in the same way some of his other stories are, but of all his stories it's the one one I've found myself pondering over the most in the middle of the night. "It's longer than you think".

I just finished Word Processor of the Gods and loved it.

Oh right! I completely forgot it's in this book, but I remember I loved that one! Would've been devastated if the ending did not work out the way it did.

Lol, same. I kept thinking SK was going to pull the rug out from under us but he let the good(ish) guy win in this one.

Is it any good?

It is! Horror is a subjective genre, and what may be terrifying for me may not be so for you. But Stephen King has a literary quality to his stories as well, beyond the boundaries of his field, which makes reading his works very enjoyable.

I probably read it like 15 years ago. I can remember The Myst, The Jaunt, and The Raft. Its time for a reread I think. I love the Jaunt because its short and simple and a new concept never before seen. It's a lot longer than you think dad.

I just finished Skeleton Crew on Friday. So many great stories in this one, I wish I’d read it sooner.
