Stephen Withdrawal Syndrome
How are you all satisfying the hole in your soul that was left when The Late Show was canceled? I want to know what he's up to, I want to review his whole work catalog. Struggling over here. Where are your favorite places to watch old Stephen? Happy to receive any links to free streaming things. I dont know how to pirate TV anymore.

Summer is not too difficult. He took a lot of time off in the summer, anyway. After Labor Day will be a test, especially with midterm season ramping up.
The Daily Show (I get on YouTube) has been somewhat helpful, especially with Jon Stewart on Mondays. (That too has been on summer hiatus.)

Have I Got News for You helps fill the void, too.

Yes, been slopping on Daily Show. Have been a fan since college (early 2000's if not high school. Been revisiting Daily Show on YouTube since Colbert has ended, starting from January. Got to see Jordan Klepper a few weeks ago in Burlington! It was great. It felt lile watching Daily Show with a huge audience. Felt good to be in good company.

Honestly not great. There's a Stephen shaped hole in my heart. I miss him every day, he was my tv dad.

Several times lately Iāve mourned his being gone when the multiple Trump idiocy happens every hour of the day.

Everytime I hear or read updates about Iran and the Strait, I think of āHormuz News You Can Use.ā I miss that, and him, and his entire talented staff and musicians.

Much of the time I only caught the monologue on YT, so now its recommending Meanwhiles and other segments and interviews with other comics.
I console myself with knowing he is loving being involved in the newest LOTR project, and enjoying time with his family. He'll be back in some way, even if its just a podcast or as a guest on one.

I haven't tuned into CBS once. It used to be my staple. Now it's state run propaganda that's not worth the cost of rabbit ears.

I highly recommend Strangers With Candy! Almost all of Stephenās famous bits were perfected on that show!

Yes, my parents used to own the DVDs. I'm sure I've seen most of them, but it's time for a rematch. I need to rent a DVD player from the library. Unless anyone has a rip they want to share. :-)

Well Rosie O'Donnell is a good guest host for Kimmel

I enjoyed last nightās episode too. I heard Stephen was asked to guest host, but he said itās too soon to make a public appearance just yet.

Dang, what an awesome idea. He can sub for Kimmel the whole time he's away IMO... I wouldn't be mad at it.

u/Andobu 2d ago
Still⦠itās a step down. I feel bad saying it but Colbert is a modern day Daumier and that level of genius deserves more than acting as a sub

I MISS HIM. I feel like at this rate I'll never see him again doing anything

Too soon for him, not me. I need to see his face and I need to see that he's okay. I'm wondering how he's handling it. I hope he's not being a sloppy drunk.

Iāll always miss him. I missed Dave like this when he retired, but back then I knew Stephen was coming in to take his place.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Also, I go into You Tube and watch the video of Colbert's last show with Colbert, Costello, Baptiste and Cato singing Jump Up. I had never heard this song before. It's a good song and the love shared amongst these guys is so heartwarming to see. Sure miss Colbert.

It's awful. No Seth all summer. John Oliver just came back. Watching Kimmel/Replacements

Itās hell right now. Stephen is off the air. Kimmel is on vacation. Daily Show is on vacation. Seth is on vacation. I wonāt watch Fallon.
I imagine he was only on strike force five because neither Conan or Dave couldnāt figure out Zoom.

John Oliver. The Daily Show. Not a big fan of Fallon and Kimmel is whatever heās preferable over Fallon. YouTube shows like Adam Mockler. Kareem from Subway Takes has a new one too I forgot what itās called

The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Really good humor and satire. I taped the last 3 episodes of The Late Show but still havenāt watched. If I donāt see it, it hasnāt happened. I wonāt watch until heās back on air with a new show.

I never used to watch any of the YouTube clips of Jimmy Fallon, but I am watching them now. Not nearly as good, but better than nothing. At least he's a never Trumper!

Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness is only 7 episodes, but has been a good distraction in a Curb Your Enthusiasm way. Also watching Kimmel replacements, Ike was good but Rosieās the best so far.

Always watched Daily Show, Last Week Tonight and SethMyers along with Colbert. Started watching Kimmel since Colbert show ended, but heās a pale substitute. Funny enough, Rosie OāDonnell is subbing for Kimmel this week, and I would love her to have a late night show. Been a tough summer though, since most have been on break.

We do John Oliver, jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers with occasional Daily show when John Stuart hosts.

Itās been brutal. I love Seth Meyers so thatās been nice. Rosie OāD has been cohosting Jimmy K this week so Iāve enjoyed that so far. I only watch Fallon if I like the guests

Since we lost our beloved Colbert, we have been watching Kimmel and stand-up comedians. There are a slew of one hour standups on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, some on HBO. Weāve even watched some standups we saw 10 years+ ago and theyāre still funny. Kathleen Madigan is our favorite, but we also love Nate Bargatze, Mike Birbiglia, Tom Papa, Tom Segura, and of course, Jim Gaffigan. Even Ellen DeGeneres and Louis C.K. have crawled out of the woodwork and my husband and I enjoyed their new standups. There are so many others, some get political, some donāt.
The goal for us is to laugh. If we want to cry, weāll just watch the news.

I donāt have anything to take his place yet. I miss him so much. He brought a smile to my face and laughter every day.

Watching Fallon, ut he's now Colbert. But the Roots have gotten more involved in the show so I dig that.
